I think the "aggravated by talking" part is just being consistent with Entry #20 in which Tim is rather irritable and short with anyone who talks to him while he's got that massive headache and cough. I don't really think it's that uncommon for talking to aggravate headaches.

I suspect Tim's dual personalities are not a real mental disease. Even real dual personalities, if they are actually real, are really uncommon, and they don't really work the way that Tim's do. Tim can't remember being Masky. But, Masky presumably knows he wants to get revenge on Alex for what Alex did to Tim, so Masky must have Tim's memories. And just to complicate things further, Tim doesn't remember what Alex did to him in the abandoned hospital, so Masky presumably has Tim's memories that Tim doesn't have. That's partly conjecture, but I think it's what's happening. Anyway, I suspect his dual personalities are the result of Slendersickness. The arguably main symptom of Slendersickness ia mental problems, and I think it's plausible that those mental problems don't exist outside of Slendersick brains. And yes, I do admit that in my theory at least, the way it affected Tim's brain was very different than the way if affected Alex's brain, but it's also affected their brains differently that Jay's or Hoody's. I imagine it just varies from person to person,

Or with length of exposure, or intent of TO.

Of course, you have to ask yourself, "How realistically are they trying to portray D.I.D. if they're using it?"

That's actually a myth. Compartmentalization in the brain is more about certain lobes than about one "side" or the other.

Incidentally, you don't use only 10% of your brain, shaving does not make your hair grow faster, swimming after eating does not cause a cramp, & all areas of the tongue can taste all flavors about equally.

I spend a lot of time on WebMD.

Edit: Double-posted, like a derp.

It is true that predominantly right-sided people have a noticeable higher percentage of high performance in creativity, as well as a slight increase in instability.

And MH is pretty thorough. I think they would portray a mental illness accurately, if only to sell the deception. In any case, relying on them to be unreliable isn't a good argument to say Tim has split-personality disorder.

That's a really good point actually. But I think ultimately when it becomes apparent Tim's split personality isn't realistic, people are gonna be questioning why, and I'm gonna be saying "Because Tim's mental disease was created by a fictional, tall businessman without a face who warps reality, and the way he interacts with people's brains can create fictional mental diseases that work however the Operator/Trosephim want them to."

i don't think they are going to be incredibly accurate at all times

they had tim basically hide the fact that he was taking tylenol's by ripping the label off

it's just that a dual personality explanation for tim's behavior is cheap and lazy

1. It's a very weak tendency, with few new studies supporting it. I find it is easier to say there is a lack of evidence. But, I will concede, maybe I should not have been so dogmatic as to say that it did not exist.

2. I'm not saying one way or the other, but most things that use it as a plot device don't portray it entirely accurately. And if they're giving him "an alternate personality," they might forgo medical accuracy entirely, & just say "Slenderman did it." I think it would be neat if they went to the effort of portraying whatever Tim's psychological problems are accurately, but it might not be their priority.

Backing up a little, there's nothing in Tim's medical reports that HAS to say Tim has a split personality. His problems do seem more Operator-related than anything (I'd like to rule out that his problems were un-Operator-related just because of the fact that the OpSymbol was on the folder, and the fact that he was found in Rosswood Park, as well as the "Time" disorientation). They claim he has problems with discerning reality and with hallucinations, but I mean, he's likely seeing a tall faceless man in a suit; what would the doctors say?

Alex spent a long time lying to Jay, and he turned out to be working directly with TO. There's no reason that Tim couldn't lie just as effectively, if not more so. As well as the whole "people can be memory-wiped" deal. We've only seen Tim act normally for two intervals during the MH Timeline after Alex gives Jay the tapes: Entry #15, before Tim learns that Jay is investigating this whole thing, and then not until Entry #53 (where it's confirmed, in Entry #52 Jay just sees Tim walking around unmasked).

Therefore, it could just as easily be that Tim donned the Masky persona for the entirety of the space between #15 (or even before this, depending) to #52, and was memory-wiped with no memory of ever having done so. He still has his limp at the end of #33, if I recall correctly? He could have just woken up out of it all sometime between that point and the end of #52 while Jay had been going through the tapes and moving around paranoid. That would be consistent with everything Tim says from #53 onwards. No need for multiple personalities.

He could also be lying about it, but that doesn't change my point. I mean, if you're going to use mental illness to explain this behavior, dissociative fugue state works just as well - even better considering his mysterious Rosswood Park disappearance.

Just an alternate look.

Oh yeah, no, whatever Tim has got is definitely Operator stuff. That's why some people are so aggravated. This entry literally told us exactly what we already knew. The only reason I can see for releasing it is to show that something was happening to Jay, but it's not necessary to get a whole entry for a cough & a bitter tone.

But I have to say, I find it difficult to believe that Alex is working with The Operator. At least not willingly.

As far as we know, Alex gained nothing from working with The Operator except for a lot of problems, so this makes sense. I mean, I suppose you could say he gained not being killed by it or something, but I think that would fall under "not willingly." The trance sequence from Entry #43 has to mean something. We know these characters do things under trances or blackouts that they don't remember, because we've seen it irrefutably happen to Jay. So there's no reason why that shouldn't apply to Alex too. Especially considering his self-righteous indignant panic in Entry #52, when he sounds so convinced that killing Jay is actually what he should be doing.

I also feel like it's unlikely that The Operator needed Alex in order to kill Jay, if that's what it wanted. The thing can teleport, make you vomit blood, control your body, initiate Laser Guided Amnesia, & who knows what else.

For all we know really TO is mindcontrolling the ones who run Totheark because it wants to get to its home planet with its spaceship TARDIS thing called The Ark and Tim is the rebel freedom fighter whose trying to stop it from killing everyone in the process /seriously would explain everything in the series.

I just want an entry where Jay and whoever is on his team sits down and discusses the operator

like...

Jay: Ok, so we know it can rupture your lungs somewhat

Alex: Right, through a gas that it emits

Tim: I hate that gas. Feels like I'm breathing underwater at times.

Brian: We also know it can teleport

Tim: And that's what scares me the most. I dont' feel safe anywhere. You saw it in the hotel room, Jay. It can get to you anywhere.

(insert blooper where tim goes "I CAN'T EVEN TAKE SHITS COMFORTABLY ANYMORE")

Alex: Yeah, we need to find a solution to that. He can teleport himself, and us as well

Jay: We also know that he can hypnotize us if he has a hold of us

Brian: I survived one of those. Scariest thing I"ve ever been through. Staring into his faceless void pretending to be in a trance. No idea how I regained control

etc
