I remember Alex's drawings naming him as the Operator (44 off the top of my head)

I don't think (in game) they've ever actually disclosed the tall guy as the Operator. The word "operator" is thrown around a lot, but it's never directed at the Slender Man.

Well I guess, (In game) he wouldn't really have a name. Unless as he Slenderapes you he yells in your mind HI MY NAME IS THE OPERATOR, I LOVE YOU!!!!

The only way they would have a name, is if they found some folk lore from the town (prbly when they used to stretch people) that called him that. But even then, it would only be a name they gave it.

Although, if you think about it, a quick google search would bring up the name Slender man. Even in game, Jay posted in the original Something Aw ful esome forum. So Jay should know what a Slender man is.

I imagine only TTA calls it The Operator. And that is probably another cryptic thing that will point to it's origins.

I have a feeling that by the end of the series they'll refer to him as "the slender man."

They better at least give a nod towards the origins. Even they just say: "Where is...that....very....slender...man

I kind of like the fact that he is never really discussed on camera. They don't theorize or spoon feed us answers about what it is and that allows us to draw our own conclusions. That's not to say I don't want certain questions answered when the series ends because I definitely want to know what its motives are and why these people were chosen.

Also it makes more of an impact when it is addressed on camera, one of my favorite entries is #46 where Jay sees it through the window and tries to run saying "no no no no no" and Alex says "you led it right here." That entry always stood out to me because the way they reacted to it, and Alex not running away from it again which Jay even mentions at the end of the video.

As far as them knowing the name "operator" it seems TTA and Alex (based off his drawings) know what to call it somehow. I'm still not sure where they got the name "operator" from but I do find it interesting that hypnotists refer to themselves as operators. Another term is an anomalous operator, which in parapsychology is someone who can manipulate psychokinesis, reality shifts, telekinesis, poltergeist, teleportation and materialization. I apologize for rambling I haven't slept in a day or two and I'm probably off topic and not making any sense.

Wow, knowing that about operators, that is probably the origin of the name

I can't say for certain, but I feel like that was more of a preview than an actual part of the MH canon.

It was the trailhead. Also, I think that one could be explained off by jay commenting that slenderman reminded him of something he saw on the tapes, but it wasn't necessarily the same thing.

It could be explained, but the fact that Jay doesn't acknowledge this whole mythology leads me to believe that it is simply non-canon.

I still think the more you think about TO the more likely he is to appear. So maybe Jay somewhat realized that everyone knows it is a silent rule not to constantly film or talk about it

So take entry #26 as an example, you think TO appeared because Alex was thinking about him, or does it have something to do with the camera/being filmed?

Well if it was the first one. Then just thought summons him. So yeah, Jay being teleported through a creepy house, who wouldn't think of that strange slenderizer they saw in some home videos.
Also Masky, (and maybe TTA) were in that house. They could have summoned TO with their thoughts. (by accident of course....I hope)

But if Slendy just wants to prevent anyone from knowing about him, then he would show up to destroy cameras (but I don't think that TO is too up-to-date on technology)

What I think happens is, the more someone thinks of TO, (the more paranoid they get and CONSTANTLY think of TO) the closer he comes. Then he finds out who knows about him, Grabs them. Wipes their minds and goes back to sleep. Then the next day Jay/Alex continue watching the tapes and see Slendy again, and are like o.o So TO comes back and says "Why do I have to keep wiping your minds?!?!?!"

Basically, this show would be over if The Operator knew how to burn tapes/ hack YouTube.

Slightly off-topic, but still related:
Have we decided exactly what the relation is between the Operator and "Marble Hornets", a film by Alex Kralie? I'm new here, so I'm not sure. I tried to search the forums, but I wasn't sure what to search that wouldn't turn up every single thread.
