This sounds like it would be fun. Really quick question - do you need to have played the previous Myst games in order to follow along, in terms of plot line? I vaguely remember playing the first one a while ago, but have no idea what it was about. Eh, the short-term memory... So, is this a direct sequel?

No, I wouldn't think so. There is plenty of material around, usually in the form of books and notes to peruse, to fill in the backstory for those who haven't played recent games.

On my copy the CD key is on a sticker on the back of the Player's guide. It would have been nice if they'd done something to draw attention to it, like printing the words "CD Key:" in front of it or something...
I guess I should have said I don't have the CD Key cause I don't have the CD... yet. So it may be awhile before I join you guys

man, what a bumpy ride! I finally found the right "neighborhood" and was able to enter it -- and I found it empty. But I left my mark if you check the visitors log, and I moved a few cones.
Did you notice that there is also an ARGN neighborhood? I never managed to enter that one, but it also looked empty.
As for changing my default neighborhood, it looks tricky, involving a step to delete my current one.

No, you don't really need to have ever played any of the MYST games as far as I can tell. I've entered several ages in the offline game now, and nothing has required prior knowledge to enjoy the environment and puzzles.

Yeah weird. ARGN Hood was the first Unfiction hood, which I thought I'd deleted, but it won't delete.
Sorry to have lost you this afternoon. I crashed again and then had to go offline to go to a party. Internet Free Day and all that....

If you have to ask, you're not ready to know.

I haven't had any more time on the good computer, so I have not visited the city, but I did explore some of the related websites. Bummer that we missed out on the "Capture the Cones" game last weekend. Today they're having a photo scavenger hunt which also sounds fun, but I haven't yet explored enough of the world to be a useful teammate.

I admire their effort to build a community. It's still just a glorified 3-D chat to me, but games and the promise of future cooperative puzzles will keep me interested. I have not yet bothered to change my default neighborhood -- did you decide on making it ARGN or Unfiction?

Due to a bug that caused me to lose game progress upon creating the new 'hood, I had to go back to my original 'hood or start everything over.
Once the dust settles we'll get an Unfiction 'hood going again, if need be. Things can still be quite laggy in the city, so they've still got a little work to do. They've opened up quite a bit more of the city (probably twice as much city today as this time last week), including taunting us with the area around the library, which is supposed to contain linking books to other ages.
But the game is still visually stunning, and the Great Zero Marker missions that you get access to once you collect the first two sets of markers are a fun scavenger hunt type of pasttime. I still enjoy the exploration over the glorified chat aspect. In fact, I even discovered a spot that I had totally missed in the offline game somehow.

Carlito! Tell me your KI number so I can add you to my buddy list!
Yes, I do look forward to them fixing the lag problem. When they do, it will be amazing.

I'd give you my KI number, but I can't log in to the dang thing, and I forgot to jot it down last time I was there.
Question: If I play the single player campaign will I lose my progress if I switch to multiplayer? I'm not very far, I've only completed the Desert Age.
