Could be the PM's thought we were devoting too much effort to it, and want to redirect our efforts to the Nebra disk.

Reggie has a new doodle for us http://nru.us/images/doodles/3.jpg

looks like 2 images overlayed on top of each other. the blue and white looks like another pic of death on a horse. the ascii text looks like some sort of glyph... Confused

The "slutten er begynnelsen" in the lower left is Norwegian

slutten = the end, ending
er = is
begynnelsen = the start, beginning

so "slutten er begynnelsen" = the end is the beginning ?

actually, the ascii part is an ascii version of 2.jpg (the nebra disk again). Attached a version of 3.jpg that i've played around with a bit to remove the death image. You'll have to stand back from your monitor to see that it is in fact an ascii version of 2.jpg

I took it as "the end is beginning"; a.k.a. "The end is nigh" (which isn't actually in the Bible anywhere that I can find). In Revelation the first sign of the end of the world is the White Horseman, variously known as Conquest or Plague. It looks to me like the l/p combo should be something like armageddon/nebra or vice versa, but I can't make anything work!

And so, dear Acheroners, I give you a gift. May it be with you as long as it has been with me. Click this link. Then try this scorecard for the kids at home.

I prefer the 'REM ordering breakfast at Denny's at 3 a.m.' version:
Quote:
That's great I'll start with a milkshake, scrambled eggs and fries, burgers and some marmlade.
I'll have a rib-steak, wild rice, baked potatoes, small salad, blue cheese, hold the olives, no tomatoes, pickled beets, pig's feet, bagels and some lox please A-1, tartar, where the hell's the salad bar!

Stuck behind a screaming baby, you've got turkey giblet gravy running down your neck, gee this coffee is awful, hey waitress where's my waffle, in the back burned black cause the cook's on crack, hey! uh-oh can't go bathroom overflow, listen to yourself burp feelin' like your gonna *urp*, heffer in the corner is a former blood doner and the junkies and the pimps and the cops, right! plain slam-dunk doughnut coffee makes you go nuts, watiress, orders, don't ignore us, check please!

It's the end of the meal as we know it....

Cute, but REM stole it from Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues"

That may be so, but I prefer Radiohead's Subterranean Homesick Alien.

So anyway... about this puzzle? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Endless cycles

http://www.spirasolaris.ca/sbb4f.html

(emphasis is mine)
Quote:
"Ouroboros was and is the name for the Great World Serpent, encircling the earth. The word 'Ouroboros' is really a term that describes a similar symbol which has been cross-pollinated from many different cultures. From "Ouroboros," there is the serpent or dragon gnawing at its own tail. The symbolic connotation from this owes to the returning cyclical nature of the seasons; the oscillations of the night sky; self-fecundation; disintegration and re-integration; truth and cognition complete; the Androgyne (see below); the primaeval waters; the potential before the spark of creation; the undifferentiated; the Totality; primordial unity; self-sufficiency, and the idea of the beginning and the end as being a continuous unending principle. It represents the conflict of life as well in that life comes out of life and death. 'My end is my beginning.' In a sense life feeds off itself, thus there are good and bad connotations which can be drawn. It is a single image with the entire actions of a life cycle - it begets, weds, impregnates, and slays itself, but in a cyclical sense, rather than linear. Thus, it fashions our lives to a totality more towards what it may REALLY be - a series of movements which repeat

yep, I found that Ouroboros yesterday, and tried every combination I can think of with nebra, as well as Ouroboros by itself.

Just realized that the translation should be "the end is beginning" not "the end is the beginning. So more or less the same as "The end times. It has begun." on pony.php. Not that it has helped me any. Rolling Eyes

another clue from Reggie http://nru.us/images/doodles/4.jpg

The last two lines are Norwegian (again) and translates to:

"the answer is near/close/almost"
"death is never definite/ultimate/final"
