I'm not suggesting this be done. We should talk it out first.

We are being given two sides to interact with and both are recruiting. One, the good guys, are willing to take (and need) as many members as possible. The other, the bad guys, are looking for one individual and apparently want that person to show their worth.

Akamu has committed to sending us Guides that Horizon has been blocking the citizens of Earth from getting.

Is it coincidence that Horizon wants someone to prove their worth while the knowledge of an imminent delivery of something they'd be extremely interested in confiscating has just been delivered to us?

Is it possible that giving up the delivery of the Guide to Horizon is what will get us into Horizon?

Is that the point that moves the story further?

Imagine what happens once we get the position? None of us are actually going to Atlas. How would the PMs handle the interaction with that player? I don't think the story will allow for one of us to be acting like we are on another planet training for a new job. This is Alternate Reality not virtual reality.

Taking that into consideration, whatever it takes to get the job will just move the story forward, not send one of us to Atlas. Maybe giving Horizon the Guides before they get to us is a wrinkle in the story and a way for the PMs to not have to pay for and ship a ton of material.

This stuff about "What would you do to get the post" is interesting... any thoughts?

I beleive none of us will get it a random person that dosent really exsist will gain it and we will be left in the dust. Or some of us will be given it out of "what the heyness" or only truely one of us will get it and that person will be treated quite nicely

That pretty much covers it. Very Happy

I think we should go for it... one of us should get that job, whatever the mechanics of the game, and then act as they see fit. Unless this is a very shortsighted PM, you're right, anything that happens will merely advance the story.

I've chosen to just let myself be surprised and learn as much about the characters involved as the story will allow me to at the moment. Yes, logically none of us will be going to space, but the story does want us trying to be getting into Horizon. I've opted not to try to give any bargaining chips to Horizon myself just yet.

It would be interesting if this game is playable on both sides though from here on out, as player interaction can have an added level of interestingness when you have someone rooting for the evil Empire, as we have seen at one case of (yeah I protested it, but playfully.) Plot seems to be stronger on the "good" side though, so I'm not sure if that will happen, but it will be interesting to see!

Edit: Regarding the usefulness of giving up the shipment: It may not even help Horizon at all. Who is to say Horizon isn't already looking for shipments of Yimmu Logistics, and they are just that good at getting it past Horizon?

I'm feeling that the position at Horizon is simply a story point rather than a storyline. Conversation with LISA is currently 50% of our available options and I'm starting to think that giving up the shipment of Guides or, once we had copies of it, sending a copy of one to LISA is the step to moving on to the Horizon part of the story.

@Aesculapius - with only one position apparently available, and the tone of the story so far, I feel that your right, the story is geared towards the "good side".

@jasonwire - yep. Having two sides available to interact with, the PMs, who seem so far to have a very competent handle on the story, must have anticipated that we'd interpret the situation as a chance for some double agentry. If its not an outcome that they desire, they'll ignore it.

There was an idea floated around earlier about this being part of some movie/tv show/ etc. If that's the case, the 6 months makes sense if the pm's are planning on having a player cameo.

Just a thought.

Hey all, had some mid semster exams to take care of so haven't had a chance to update. Going out on a limb I sent LISA a message with only

Quote:
00101011 00101011 00101101 00101101 00111100 00111110 00111100 00111110 01000010 01000001 01000101 01001110 01010100 01000101 01010010

(konami code that I translated in binary)

I first got this reply:

Quote:

Data Recieved.
Processing...
Initializing LISA Routines...

**Welcome to Horizon Industries.**

++--<><>BAENTER

Is this supposed to mean something to me?

Always watch. Always listen. Horizon Industries.

But then a bit later I got this:

Quote:
Data Recieved.
Processing...
Initializing LISA Routines...

**Welcome to Horizon Industries.**

On further processing, I believe your formal resume will help greatly. Please send it at your earliest convenience.

Always watch. Always listen. Horizon Industries.

Seems I outsmarted future AI! I sent them my resume but I can't see them picking me as I live in Australia Sad

But it might be worth using either the konami code or any other common cheat code you can think of to get more information out of her.[/quote]

You must also take into consideration that there really isn't a job available at "Horizon" at all, and LISA is just trying to use that to try and get information out of us.

It will probably be a new ally that will be on our side. We will be able interact with them and give them ideas on how to take down Horizon.
