No one else finds it interesting that Earth's and Oceanus' weeks seem to line up?

Makes me wonder whether they're on a 24/7 schedule as well. Wouldn't the possibility of this be highly likely?

I was curious about it, too, which I kind of addressed in my email back to Kai. Also, noted in the notes for Oceanus.

This one didn't strike me as odd. If they are a giant corporation they'd likely have staff that specializes in specific dates/times of other planets. So while there's no indication that the five day weekend Kai mentions lines up with Earth's days of the week, the fact that the sales team is working on a schedule that does line up with Earth's days of the week doesn't mean too much.

Edit: Requested a complete cataloge of products from Kai, same response "Sales will contact you on Monday"

I also sent an email to Akuma inquiring about the specifics of the current political troubles the planets are facing.

Though it was blatantly obvious, the question was answered.

Mr. Kai,

That's quite alright, I can understand how hectic and slow things get around an office during holidays. Congratulations, though, on your recent holiday.

There's no need to apologize; I'm not upset with the package, I'm just more so confused. But I'm also confused by some of the contents of the package. For instance, the coupon says it expires on August 20th, 2277. Does the coupon just last a ridiculously long time, or our planets a few light years apart? Considering it's only 2012 here, I imagine the latter explanation answers my question.

Anyways, while I have many other questions, I certainly don't wish to bother you with them during your holiday weekend while you're working hard. Thank you for the response itself - it helped clear a few things up for me.

Hello!

That's correct, the coupon expires in 2277. Our planets are of course light-years apart! I appreciate the joke, Mr. Rivers. On a day like today, I need it!

Threw a couple more questions his way about time differences and week structures, and a few other things. Don't think we'll get anything too important from Kai. I think everything points towards Monday.

Natalie,

While I'd like to avoid any political discussions, our relationship with the population of Earth has always been excellent.

We have been trading with Earth since the company started, and the population of Earth have always been valued customers.

I think so - I was somewhat confused by that part, too, honestly, but I didn't want to ask and look stupid, haha.

More from Kai.

I'm glad to have been able to lighten your mood, Mr. Kai.

Is it true then, that Oceanus operates on the same 7-day week system that Earth does? I'm sorry for the never-ending questions - I wasn't aware of your planet's existence until receiving your package just the other day. I imagine you might understand how incredible it feels to realize there's more out there.

Again, if these questions are becoming bothersome, I wish you a good weekend, Mr. Kai.

Thanks again,

Damian

Kai wrote:

Damian,

The questions are not becoming bothersome at all, but I am very surprised how little you know about the rest of the Union.

The answer is yes, we utilize various technologies to align our day-night cycle with that of Earth, specifically solar shades. They've been in place since colonization, so while it could be odd to you, it's normal for us on Oceanus. I'm assuming you haven't been off-world?

Interesting.

Interesting indeed!

Edit: I sent a request for clarification of the political strife to Kai. We'll see what he replies with.

I just made an account to get in on this. I sent an email to Mr. Kai, also asking for a catalog. Within minutes, I had a reply. Unfortunately, no new information, though I guess I wasn't expecting any yet. I can't wait until Monday!

Got the same e-mail as everyone else from Kai... assuming we'll have to wait until Monday to get a e-mail back from Akuma.

I think the joke Kai was referring to was perhaps us only being in the year 2012? I don't see what else in that e-mail could have been funny to him.

I got an email back aswell Wink

Quote:
Hello Mr. **!

My name is Richard Kai, and I'm happy to personally assist you with your inquiry. On behalf of everyone at Koatoa Marine, we'd like to thank you for getting in touch with us.

I'd also like to apologize for taking two days to get back to you. This past Wednesday was actually Oceanus Day here on Oceanus, which this year, celebrates 61 years since our colonization. Don't worry, it's easy to forget the holidays on other planets! I'm in the office today but most of the company took a five day weekend.

Thank you very much for your interest, although what makes you say we have broadened our market? We have always sold our products to all thirteen members of the Union.

Comparing the seafood here to that of Earth is a very interesting debate. We believe that our seafood here compares to the best of Earth's past, but currently, due to factors that I'm sure you're aware of, the product from Oceanus is better in the eyes of most food critics.

As for your final question, I'm sure you know that I won't be visiting Earth in the near future. While I'd like to one day, I'm afraid it's not possible...as you must know.

Have a great weekend on Earth!

13 colonies in the "Union"? Sounds oddly familiar. Can't put my finger on what it reminds me of though.

Battlestar Galactica with the 13 tribes...

Earth is a valued customer. Maybe someone should ask Kai who his earth contact is?
