UPDATE: Reggie's blog, 1/14/04

Quote:
Wednesday

odd dreams. in a field surrounded by spiders, monkeys, birds. look up and witness the eye of god staring down upon me. without warning, i rise up from the ground, levitated by powers i can't understand. ground rushes away body accelerating towards the eye. enormous orb. so large, it fills my field of vision completely. temperature shoots up until i am engulfed in a black heat. then an odd calm-as if the heat is purifying my soul, burning away all feeling and leaving behind only the essence of my being.

i look down to see etched in the earth enormous pictographs. as if a giant child had carved the desert with a stick. simple drawings, yet they evoke memories from deep within my psyche. i seem to recall rituals. barbaric and foreign but performed with an ease that only comes from repetition and practice. and at the end, a giant winged snake comes out of a mountain and swallows everything.

three nights in a row.

Weird weird weird. Dream interpretation, anyone?

the pictographs (spiders, monkeys, birds) I believe refers to the Nazca lines in Peru.

the giant winged snake likely refers to Quetzalcoatl, an Aztec god. The "eye of god" is also a reference to the Aztecs.

THEY CALL ME PASTABAGEL

Well, Jake was talking about ley lines, and there are ley lines that pass through Sedona, AZ, which also has petroglyphs, and guess what, its very own ICBM missile silo.

In addition, Sedona Natl Park is the location of the butte that is in the beginning of the new Myst game URU.

THEY CALL ME PASTABAGEL

Edit: I think you're right about the Aztecs, as I believe they were the only South American indian tribes that performed human sacrifices on a regular basis. So is Aztec a keyword to anything?

Ok, heres what I came up with: NAzca Lines in peru, shown here: http://www.crystalinks.com/nasca.html

The spider, monkey, bird and "wing"ed serpent are all on a line. Also, the black heat/eye of god could refer to a solar eclipse which occurred during their time (theory is here: http://nazcalines.homestead.com/files/nazcaeye.htm )

And the nazca lines are on a ley line, too. But maybe we are suppowed to draw a line to something else, and find the intersection?

Okay, so...now what?

Could it be that Reggie is trying to clue us in to where the competing RHIC is built?

/me skips happily to the Encyclopedia Mythica at http://www.pantheon.org/

Kewl! Here is the feathered serpent!

Hmmm.... destruction of various world periods...

Incas

The Incas also used human sacrifice on a ritualistic basis, in certain instances. Not just as much as the Aztecs. The most famous temple of the Incas is the Temple of the Sun which had a daily ceremony to welcome the sun. And may possibly what Reggie is refering to.

Perhaps he is pointing us to a line that flows northward to Mexico toward the Incas and the great feathered serpent.

This dream disturbs me because he had it three nights in a row and it is written in almost lyrical language which is unlike our Reggie boy.

The second Sun was Quetzalcoatl, and the food available was mesquite tree seed. This Sun ended with hurricane winds blowing people into the sky and forests. The survivors became monkeys. The third Sun was Tlaloc, and the food available was a prototype of maize. The Sun ended when volcanic eruptions destroyed everything. The surviving people were changed to birds. The fourth Sun was Chalchiuhtlicue, the goddess of water and the food was a seed, acicintli. The ending of this Sun was the inundating of the earth and the toppling of the sky. The people were turned to fish to cope with the floods.
...
The present Sun is expected to end with horrible earthquakes that will swallow everything and bring down the stars. (Brundage, pages 27-29) In order to keep the present Sun happy, the Aztecs believed that it needed to be fed with sacrificial victims...

I really want to figure this one out as Reggie is almost poetical in this, an ARG character referring to an inner life makes me happy.

he seems to be mixing together different cultural traditions

the Nazca lines as grupmy said, are surely what he means, and not much is known about the culture that created them

the eye of God must be the sun?

Elijah, the old testament prophet, is the only character I know of that was transported to heaven in a whirlwind.

the black heat has been explained by PastaBagel as a solar eclipse

"the essence of my being"- ?

the pictographs are the Nazca lines seen from above
the rituals could be Axtec, Mayan or Incan - they all used human sacrifice to a limited extent

the winged snake must be the"feathered serpent" as Mage mentioned above.

the three nights in a row ? I looked for rituals that occured over 3 nights or 3 eclipses or anything.

This remains a mystery to me.

IIRC, three nights could refer to the full moon, as the night before and the night after are very nearly also completely full. If you were planning rituals based on that, you wouldn't want to ignore the other two days, because you might miss the actual moment and make the god(s) angry.
