Confused as heck? Check out the QuickStart Guide This might not be useful to those of you that have been around for a while, but for those of you that just stumbled into all of this and have no clue what's going on...
The Quick Start Guide might be just what you need. I've attempted to answer some of the basic questions such as "What is an ARG?" and "How do I play?" while throwing in monkeys and dancing robots. There are also a few links to more information. It's not a complete reference and is meant to be 'quick', but if you can think of ways that it can be improved... let me know! It's been a few years since I've been in your shoes and it's a bit difficult to go back there.

(sorry for the board spam, but I thought it was a handy little something or other especially considering the recent press interest)

Imbri, that ain't bad! (mind you, I believe the robot monkeys are here to help, not hinder society...) Good work. I'm sure it will help those completely new to the ARG realm get into the swing of things. You may want to directly link the the 10 commandments of ARGs though... that was pivotal to my learning experience, and I think it's good for all noobs to get familiar with early. But that's my only criticism (other than the negative view of robot monkeys).

Olly, here's the place to find the commandments http://www.unfiction.com/dev/tutorial/
I've attached them below.
And here at unfiction is where they live.

Thanks!
I feel I have another one.
Thou shalt not interrupt characters when they are in an obvious script.
Yesterday was my first ARG and a meeting was set on IRC to talk to a fictional character.
And during a most obvious script that the puppetmasters set up, one player (who was also new of course) kept trying to interrupt him asking him questions.
This was highly irritating.

hm.
though I'd also suggest that the PMs should take that possibility into consideration considering the medium of communication... in a public chat room, there are bound to be people 'interrupting' or trying to get in on the chat.
By script I assume you mean 2 ingame characters chatting, and someone else (the player) trying to interject... so while irritating from the player, the PMs should be prepared for that.

OK, I'm probably just making a pest of my self by asking this but on Within Hubirs (Yes that place is still alive.) we create avatars for are selves, not just the PMs but the players to. Is this a normal ARG thing or just a local cork?
Sorry if this is something I should know... I've only ben at this for about a month.
BTW, although I like your idea the graphics are so bad they hurt my eyes.
