Who burned down Jay's apartment?

Considering Entry #### preceded the burning of Jay's apartment, and said video heavily featured Masky and a voiceover that essentially said, "I'm coming to get you!!!", I'm going to bet that it was Masky that committed the arson!

I always figured it was Masky/totheark, trying to push Jay into (massive air quotes here) "doing more". After all, when you don't have a home, it becomes much more difficult to hide there and try to forget about the horrible things you've witnessed.

Either Alex or Masky.

I lean towards Alex because of the lighter next to the tape with brian found in entry 50 (they obviously have the ability to move things around in a room before filming, and they left the lighter right there next to the tape so i took it as a hint), mixed in with the fact that the operator is present at the scene of jay's house burning down, most likely alex is nearby as well. Alex has a motive: he doesn't want jay putting shit up on youtube

Masky would have done it to get jay out of there to show him he was in danger, but I like the alex theory better

I'm going to say The Operator for metareasons.

Troy and Joseph were active members of SA when Slender Man was created, and during his inception, arson was one of his MO's.

I'd say The Operator as well because I remember OOG: during the marble hornets radio interview, when they were talking about what the OP's ideal date would be Joseph said that the Operator likes fire. (Personally, I would think that, as a forest entity, he WOULDN'T like fire, but whatever.)

Pretty sure the heavy implications at the time were that it was either Masky!Tim or TTA that burned it down.

And the jury's still out on the Operator in that entry, pravado. Looks like a tree to me.

I could've sworn that I remember them trying to hint that Tim was some sort of pyromaniac or something, his unknown history with the hospital and the possible insinuation that he burned it down among other things that I can't remember at the moment *shrug*

That was just a fan theory. Nothing ever tied Tim to the abandoned hospital outside of his knowledge of it's existance

It was Jays alter ego that comes out when he's sleeping and is played by Brad Pitt.

I personally think it was Alex. At first I thought it was The Operator, for the same "Meta reasons" mentioned earlier. But since we've learned Alex is evil, I've changed my mind. It works with the whole "Alex wanted to burn the tapes" thing.

Plus, if it is The Operator, then I can't imagine it ever being revealed. I mean, how would anyone know that, unless Alex or totheark saw The Operator do it, which just seems unlikely to me.
