How to keep TINAG illusion without getting arrested?

I am helping out on an ARG that is starting its pregame and we have, like so many others before us, encountered a problem that we did not foresee, one that we are having some difficulty solving. Not to give too much away, the game begins with a girl who believes that she is being followed, and the pregame right now is told from the perspective of her "stalker". We wanted to go for sinister, but now we're not certain how to show people that this is, in fact, a game, not some girl actually being stalked. Right now the very simple puzzles we posted just look like some creeper thinking he's clever putting things through a translator. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how we can deal with this problem?

Disclaimer on another page at the bottom where it can be easily ignored, or contact your local PD ahead of time- lots of hidden camera shows do that, that way if the police get called then it's okay.

also, people are suprisingly quick to see odd things on teh web as "just some marketing" or ect, esp if you main playerbase is ARG players and not the average joe. Look at stuff like My Dad's Tapes, the virals for...I think it was Poughkeepsie Tapes? Or V/H/S? Even if it goes so far as to show people being killed, they're still quick to say that it's a hoax. I'd say don't worry about it, people are getting better about knowing when it's TINAG and "guys, this isn't a game and this girl really needs help"

But, even if the police show up, if you have documentation or confirmation from your actors/crew that it's a game, you're prob in the clear. I doubt it's going to turn into another Cannibal Holocaust. XD

Okay - getting the police called on us was a bit of an exaggeration. We're not AS worried about that. We're more wondering how not to get people to be like "Oh, look, a creeper" and close the window before they realize that is a game.

Haha, they will, trust me. If they're gonna close it down before realizing it's a game, they would't be the type to play it even knowing. People have an odd facination with taboo, you'll find an audience, trust me. I'd say focus on making the story itself interesting.

People odn't want MH just for the random SM appearances- they want to see how the characters react, how TTA acts, the plot. More than just the hook of "oh hey slendy".
Same for MDT. People (mostly, I hope) Don't just watch to see DNC kill people, they wanna see Chris react, and see what happens to Kathleen, and now to Lillith, ect. Just make sure your story is more than just "oh hai this girl is getting stalked sooooo creepy an stuff". Give it a plot, a hook can only do so much. ;]
