Can a Slenderseries be too realistic? I know that there are a number of series that start out as something like "how-to vlogs" or just "a day in the life of me" kind of videos, which seems to be a pretty good context for unintentionally stumbling upon Slender Man (though some might argue that it's been done to death).
However, what do you do with the people who think that your "vlog" is a legitimate one? I have a number of subscribers who think that they're actually getting advice on things and are sending me requests for videos. How do I politely (without spoiling the fun) tell them that my "how-to vlog" is actually just a premise for a YouTube horror series?
Obviously, this problem has been occurring for me because I've not had a Slendy appearance yet; I think that would probably take care of people who are still under the impression that I'm legitimately trying to show them how to do useful things. But I'm not ready for him to come into the story just yet. How should I handle this? I don't want to just ignore private messages and be rude, but...

Well I decided to be unrealistic off the bat, but my advice for you is... SHOW TALL SLIM! Ignore comments and PMs, and if somebody is persistent, maybe hint at the fact that it's not a real how-to whatever.

Haha. Part of my problem is that I still can't find anyone to actually play Slendy. I would do it, but I have to be in the shot with him, so... :[ Ugh. What is my life.

Reveal slendy in a requested video. Never break immersion.

As long as you have the costume, a convenient scene change could fix it. Do it somewhere the person could stand on a box so it looks real. You could spin the camera fast, so at one point theres a black screen, give the camera to somebody else, dress up, and shoot the scene, then switch back.
btw could you PM me the link to the series?[/quote]

Two options:
#1) tell anyone who asks the truth; apologise where necessary.
#2) start doing hilariously bad nail tips that no one could mistake for real advice.
I went with #1, but then, I'd be more worried about someone taking my advice on depression than your advice on nails. Not that fierce nails are not Serious Business.

Well, so far everything you've used has actually been a nail product. When you start painting them with Darwin's poop people might twig. Plus it'll make you look completely mental.

Haaaaa, very funny. It has to at least be a LITTLE realistic

Well okay, as a compromise, maybe make your hands shake apparently uncontrollably so that the varnish goes all up your arm or something.
EDIT: Although, I would also consider the possibility that people are just going along with the spirit of the thing. I've done some stuff with sound that I know would never happen naturally. But when people don't mention it, and just talk about how lovely my speaking voice is, I'm never sure whether they picked up on it, or if that's what they think normal camera glitching sounds like.

You could just use good advice. Then even when you switch over to full-on Slenderseries, it isn't as though you ripped anyone off.

The problem is that people are asking me to do specific videos, but obviously I can't do that because it would mess up the storyline, you know? I guess I could do a few requests, but I want every post to advance the story, and request videos could make it pretty boring for the people who are there for Slendyscares.

Well, there's a balance to be struck. I'd say, if you were going to do a tutorial anyway, you might as well do the ones they've requested; if you're being chased through a nearby thicket by supernatural entities, I think people will understand if you don't stop to teach them how gradient nails or whatever.

If you still have trouble with putting slendy in with an actor... I use a pasteable. PM me if you think you want it for After effects or something.

Well, you could explain that you don't do requests for some random reason.
Or you could keep doing nail videos on the side through the whole series' run.
I think that would be hilarious.

you've got plenty of options, including alluding to the fact that you *tried* to shoot certain requested tutorials, but that your footage was corrupted, or disappeared, or you ran into a million problems and gave up on it.
I think for the sake of maintaining a fan base that hasn't been tapped into yet, you should try to interact with them as naturally as possible.
that is why it's "ic" and "ooc"... what would your character do?
