SXSW?

Out of curiosity, any one here planning on attending SXSW? Thinking about going to the 2009 one, just wanted to know if anyone had some tips!

Thanks,

you.

Edit: Fixed my lysdexia...

I've been looking for online info about ARG related events at this year's SXSW but can't find any yet ... anybody got some links easily at hand?

There are lots of ARG-related panels at SXSWi, if that's what you mean. Is that what you mean? Smile I think they're also doing a Go Game, too.

Enjoy SXSW! I'm living here in Austin, but I can't really attend the actual event, unfortunately.

If anyone's got questions about Austin, though, feel free to hit me up on a PM.

Wouldn't it be great if we could have a meetup of Texas ARGers and all the other ARG folks who are going to be at SXSW? Like, meet for drinks one of the evenings? I'm in Houston, but I'd drive out to Austin for that!

There's a few other panels there too that ARG related, including Ivan Askwith on fans (http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/1741), one on puzzle design (http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/969), and a Dan Hon panel on some BBC projects (http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/1014).

Okay that freakin sched.org site keeps crashing my browser and I keep losing my replies to this thread.

Looks like all the panels I've checked on (not all as I give up trying to use a site that kills my browser) are happening today while I am at my (nearby) day-job. Oh well.

Would love to have met some of you ARGies.

fyi - with those links above they give you NO date / time info so you have to copy and paste the panel title into the search engine at sched.org below and hope it doesn't crash your browser so that you might find out where and when the panel is supposed to be.

U.S. pop culture has a rich history of fan engagement. This panel examines fan involvement in immersive storytelling forms such as ARGs and MMORPGs in a new light, exploring how these interactive narratives can be better understood in comparison with longstanding fan practices from fanfic and cosplay to pro wrestling.

South by Southwest expands to Las Vegas

The event is scheduled for August 11-14, 2013 and will include speakers, panels, workshops, presentation and networking opportunities.

Coincidence? 2013 will be the 10 year anniversary of the first ever ARGFest (check out the original thread HERE) and it all started in Las Vegas.
