Slender Man in Video Games
How well can he make the transition?

Hey, first time making a discussion topic here, so bear with me if I ramble on a bit.

Obviously Slender Man has already made the jump into the land of video games already with Slender, Haunt, and quite a few others, but so far it's all been a first-person perspective, or basically a web series in video game form. There's nothing wrong with that, and so far the games released have been good (especially Slender and Haunt).

But eventually you'll hit a point where there's just no way to do something new with the First-Person view, so my discussion value is how well do you think Slender Man would adapt to a non-first person video game?

Had an idea while reading this: How about a game where you play as slendy? Like, you had to keep your distance and make your victim paranoid, then when their mind has reached a state of total deterioration, you go in for the kill.

...

After writing that down it seems a lot stupider.

Any good idea can be played out stupid. It would require good focus on what makes the game scary.

Kind of like The Hidden?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There are probably more series gameplays out there, but I like Seananners. Haha.

I love seananners's hidden let's plays...
Anyway I'm making a loose slendy game. Since I do a loose slender series. It's third person, and far from slender's gameplay. It's all about cramped interiors, there would be weapons, but they'd have little effect on ol faceless other than slow him a little. You'd need to trap him, or escape him. Or both. I also wanted to make him... Vaporous. Like where he's solid until you either shoot/hit him or he attacks. Then he becomes a black gas with a more demonic shape.
Of course slenderman wouldn't be the only enemy. Far from.
Cool?

I remember playing The Hidden when it first came out as a mod for Half-Life 2.

I remember that after playing Slender 0.9.4 getting the idea for a Slender Game that was a throwback to old-school point and click adventure games, with added emphasis of character interactions and doing research outside of the snooping around looking for Slender Man parts. Basically some Hybrid of Fatal Frame 3 (where you go to a haunted house when you sleep, but during the day you can walk around your house, get photos developed, listen to audio recordings), Marble Hornets (investigating locations relating to Slender Man, but not nessicarily running into him there), and bits of Clock Tower and Haunting Ground (hiding from Slendy until he leaves).

I put a bit more thought into the game than I should have considering I can't program and how ambitious the idea was. It'd involve a lot of Dialogue Writing, environment design, and some nifty coding to make Slendy's appearances random on different playthroughs and to handle his different phases (ie just observing, oblivious to you, trying to kill you, trying to herd you somewhere, etc.).

Those were very good ideas. I had a similar idea with using the camera as a seperate POV, but I also thought about using the camera to peer around corners to see what's there without exposing yourself. And of course occassionally you'd see nothing was done there while Slendy is behind you.

Point and click could work. Either as a narrative adventure, or just like a Where's Wally? book.

I could actually program that.

Point and click games really should come back as a genre. I'm pretty sure anyone could make one with, like, a day's training.

Yeah, I originally envisioned my unobtainable idea as a Point and Click adventure game (I had just played the demo for Alpha Polarias which was good except for the fact that the screen was too big for my laptop to display, cutting out the very bottom of the screen), but when I mentioned the idea to my friends they weren't very keen on it, thinking that it would work better as a third-person game ala Haunting Ground or a First Person perspective.
