So Jay was kind of a jerkass in this entry. He never said "thanks" to Tim, not even at the end of the conversation... Eh, I dunno, it just kind of annoyed me.

Besides that though: Yeah, I was disappointed with this entry, but I'm looking forward to the next entry.

Forgive me for being dense, but which reasons, exactly, are obvious? I can think of a number of possible reasons that Tim might have met Jay on foot or preferred to walk home.

So, will you give us the bottom line? Are you suggesting that Tim's deliberately hiding something that Jay would find out if Tim rode along or drove his car? I'm on the fence on this one, but you seem pretty certain of whatever your theory is.

Neutral

tims car got wrecked in a car crash irl

An active seizure disorder also prevents people from driving - you have to be seizure free for 2 years to drive in the UK (very occasionally 1 year if there seizures only when sleeping). Not sure about the US, but NZ's similar. Some people continue to drive, but their insurance then isn't valid and they would be criminally liable for any harm done to people or property. It's likely Tim's doctor would have told him he can't drive.

Interestingly, I've been thinking about Masky and was reminded of one patient who would have a prolonged personality change after a seizure (up to 3 days) which turned a very pleasant and caring person into a monosyllabically aggressive person. Could Masky be a similar thing?

A car crash certainly puts a different perspective on the wait. Glad all were OK

And you'd think that after a night like that, Jay would at least take Tim to breakfast...

Tim may well fall into this category (and don't forget civil liability, as well). Whatever his particular legal situation is (Alabama would have its own rules that may or may not align with other states), we've seen him drive before, and we know he's been dealing with the seizures for a long time (60.5, right?). So, if he was driving illegally before, then why not now? Did his legal situation really change overnight, or did his doctor finally talk some sense into him? Was it a story point that will be illuminated later? Or are we over-analyzing this series?

Really, I think that the more interesting moment was when he refused a ride from Jay.

I think people are too hard to most of the new entries because they have to wait a month for each. During S2 that also happened, and after it was ended I remember most of the people saying "the pacing was perfect, it was the wait that was the buzzkiller"

I have a new theory, and it's probably unlikely, but I thought I'd share it.

I was considering for a while as to whom Jay may have been calling before he exited the car to meet Tim. People have suggested Tim, Jessica, and Alex, but I had a sort of idea that, while most likely not true, is something that may play well into the whole "Tim's a huge liar" message that Hoody kept trying to badger him with.

Maybe Jay was calling Tim's doctor.

It could be possible that Jay had seen or obtained a phone number from the medical records that he would try and call. Perhaps he didn't show the page with the number on it because he didn't want to enclose that info. And when Jay found out the number was disconnected, he would be suspicious as to how Tim would be contacting his doctor if the number was disconnected.

At first I thought it was a little farfetched, and that there's no way that Tim could have the SAME doctor over the course of all these years. But being that Tim grew up in "Rosswood Town", and it seems like a pretty small town, it could be possible that Tim had been seeing the same doctor all his life.

It's just a theory, is all. The idea that Jay could be calling Tim's doctor, only to be met with a disconnected number, could really set up an interesting possible confrontation in the near future. Imagine it from this perspective: Tim is telling Jay that he had seen his doctor, to which Jay calls him on it by asking, "It took you three weeks to see your doctor?" It felt weird that Jay was questioning Tim's doctor visits, so that puts a little more faith into my really "out-there" guess.

I think it'd be cool, anyways.

Neat idea, but you're right to say it's a little far-fetched. I do like the idea that either Jay or Tim might check out the other's story before they go off risking their lives together. That's one reasonable interpretation of the level of suspicion we saw in their meeting: trust, but verify. I wonder what other ways they might do that kind of "background check."

As for the doctor's number, Jay checked out the clinic where Tim was getting treatment at the beginning of the season, at least enough to know that they were legitimately in business. If that doctor's practice folded or moved, then it would have to have been within the last few months, without any indication in the series. If the documents from 60 & 60.5 contained a number for a different clinic, then it might be something that Jay ought to have known.

Either way, those are old records, as you said, and it's quite possible that Tim's childhood doctor isn't in business anymore. There are also the theories that Tim was treated as a child at the now-abandoned hospital, which probably doesn't have a working phone.

You know, I wouldn't put it past Jay to see a phone number on those papers and try to call it, and be unable to figure out why it was disconnected...

Entry 92 involves Jay answering a suspiciously undisturbed phone deep within the hospital, only to find that he is the one on the other end, calling from the past.
