Need help removing noise

Okay. Slow this file down posted on the first page.

There appears to be LONGITUDE COORDINATES embedded in one of the frames.

My best guesses are 87.6167 W or 87.8167 W.

Point is, we need to be checking EVERYTHING already released to see if a LATITUDE COORDINATE is embedded somewhere.

Along that longitude, is somewhere roughly in the midwest United States.

Interesting. Yeah, I see 87.6167W

At 43 north that's pretty much straight through Chicago... at that West coordinate, N could be anywhere along a line from there to west of Pensacola. Chicago seems to be the biggest city in line though.

Need a N coord!

Also, looking back at MrToasty's post on the first page clipping out the glitchy GIF frames, I'm sure I've seen the font before, but I can't find or place it... Confused

ETA: Ahhhh, the un-deciphered text shown in the Halo 3 terminals, before it's converted to english... has that ever been documented?

 Any walkthrough, here ?

Hi, guys, I was wondering. how do you precisely beat the "trio" image (the colorful one of the 10/25/12 Halo Bulletin) ? thebruce's Wiki is pretty documented, but I can't obtain the same pics by myself, and I'm curious.

Waypoint guys have a good start here on the alphabet: LINK

ETA - while the Forerunner weapons poster definitely looks to use this substitution alphabet, looking at the Halo 3 terminal screens on Youtube it doesn't appear to be the case with those. From my observation, characters there don't match these and many double letter sequences in the terminals are represented by 2 different characters side by side.

I'm pretty sure the Forerunner's are well known for having an adaptive language. From what I can recall, it's not exactly straight forward as to how to to translate from Forerunner dialect to English. Though there are some translations in the book Cryptum so it could be possible.

Yeah, if it's translatable at all (presuming it's forerunner language and not just a straight english cryptogram) at best it would be a matter of finding patterns or previous translations to use a template. & good luck w/that =P

Thanks for linking the waypoint thread. I've been working there for awhile now. I've added two letters to the alphabet. Here's the updated list:

Again, this isn't official. As SpartanI013 said it definitely doesn't translate exactly the same.

I also have a lot of information compiled on the first post of the previously linked thread.

If you guys would like, I could post everything I've compiled.

One of the waypoint posters did post this earlier.

Not sure if it was accurate or not. Didn't really get time to test it considering I'm not sure why we're trying to decode a 5 year old terminal.

Also, not sure if it's just my network but the Waypoint forum was slow earlier today and now they're completely down. Anyone have the same issue?

Yeah, that was in the same thread. I put up the original translation stating that it could be extrapolated. Someone took my advice and did so. The reason I don't personally post it is because its just that, an extrapolation. I'd prefer to have the direct "proof".

I support his post though. I agree that is an accurate translation. The confusing part is T and Y. They're similar.

Edit: I think they're getting a shit load of traffic.

Edit: guys..I think waypoint is down completely

Its back up. That was concerning since lethbridge went down the other day

Easiest:
1. You need a program that can split the RGB channels, best into greyscale (so each pixel is 1 byte)
2. Each colour plane should to be saved in a raw format (either uncompressed BMP, or another format; MrT used "RAW" which I presume is just a byte-by-byte output of the pixels w/o any file format syntax, otherwise BMP syntax data will need to be stripped from the pixel bytes)
3. Re-save the individual pixel bytes from the three files that were saved. Make sure the bytes are in the correct order (images might need to be rotated so they're saved top-left to bottom-right sequentially)
4. Re-saved files should be named with the .PNG extension as images.
5. The Blue PNG will be corrupt until the embedded text is removed. Then the brightness can be boosted to reveal the puzzle piece.

That any better for a summary? Pony?! Smile
