That's a really interesting observation. It seems accurate, given the kind of attitude I'm sure we've all seen around forums dedicated to this kind of stuff - as well as among many series creators themselves.

I guess it's probably pretty obvious at this point that series created by younger people are met with a lot more skepticism right up front, but I haven't heard many people actually talk about the reasons behind this and why they could be harmful.

With the news of the Marble Hornets movie coming out, a lot of the creators and hardcore fans of the mythos seemed to have freaked out a bit... Mostly due to the anticipation of more and more "low-quality" (to put it nicely) series and fans hopping on the bandwagon once the movie premieres. We saw this kind of thing happen with the release of Slender, and I'm guessing we'll see it again with Slender: The Arrival.

It's an understandable fear. But I think everyone's going to have to accept it; there's nothing anyone can do to stop it, right? So, I think it'd be beneficial for everyone to try and keep a more open mind when it comes to younger series, and take the less-informed fans and rip-offs in stride.

 		I think it works to the advantage, actually. I'll example my own series for this, "mmzavp" is the channel name. In reality, it stands for something that nobody will ever figure out. It doesn't need explaining because its just a detail unnecessary to advance the plot. We went by "One Bad Dream" instead as a name.

 		On the topic of bad series, I once made a post that a proxy account was so bad that they might as well have used distorted PewDiePie footage with the chicken dance playing and calling the protagonist a chicken a la Tommy Wiseau... and some troll just turned it into a reality. I'm not sure how I feel about this.
