i don't know if they did it on purpose, but i kinda feel like they really tried to make it good without relying on those ridiculous crutches that just about every single movie/tv show/youtube series has been relying on which you mention here. i feel like if there was a lot of swearing or violence, it would kind of distract from the story and scariness of the entries. i don't know about anyone else, but violence and blood/gore has never made something scarier than it was without it.

sexual themes/scenes in marble hornets? honestly, i can't think of any reason there would be in this series....

i'm really glad with how they have kept this series so clean so far

On purpose? Possibly. It could definitely be enjoyed by an entire family because of what you stated, OP.

But I can't get my parents into it. They can't understand an "ARG-like" series like this for the life of them; they like to be told what's going on and just can't comprehend having to theorize. And my sister is too scared of Slendy to even be bothered.

I mean, I could have my seven year old son watch this and he probably wouldn't be warped for life. Hell, I've been watching worse stuff since I was his age, so he'd probably be fine if I let him watch it, right?

Looking back on it, that stuff wouldn't have really fit organically into what we saw in these entries anyway.

In the season 2 commentary, at the point where Jay encounters the blue hooded guy in Rosswood, they talk about how their friend Ellis, who plays Blue Hoody would turn and say something like "What the fuck do you want?" and they would have to go and reshoot, because they specifically were trying to make the series without any cursing.

So, take that for what it's worth, it's in the commentary that they talk about wanting to not curse throughout the run, even though they're all pretty foul mouthed in real life.

I think part of it might have to do with their parents being the uptight "traditional" types, and they watch the series. I certainly know that Troy said they swore in the commentaries, and his mom watched the commentaries once, so obviously they wouldn't want to swear in the actual entries themselves.

Well, I think this Halloween I'm going to show Marble Hornets to Serum Junior. I mean, he watched Amityville III (Don't worry, it's rated PG.) and it didn't bother him and that's way more over the top than Marble Hornets.

Actually, besides all the scares and the slenderman, it would be a great great thing for Serum Junior because it's going to make him think. He's going to have to make theories to explain to himself why is everything happening. And that, Serum, is invaluable. He's going to be (and most probably he is already, since you are considering making him watch MH) a smart little guy. I already like him

I got my mother to watch MH with me, and she's not a horror fan at all.
She got pretty confused with all the timeline jumping in Season 2, but other than that she's got a pretty good grip on it, and she can theorize with the best of them.
