Marble Hornets is way scarier to me. When it comes to Slenderman, less is definetely more.

DH's Slenderman has made, like, four or five major appearances.

It's a defining example of "Less = More" and it lets them give more extensive scenes with it because he very rarely actually appears.

That said, MH's Slenderman appearances are (usually) good too. This entry's appearance and the one in the tunnel where terrifying and tense.

I watched the DH video a few days ago, and I can say that it wasn't scary to me in the least. It was a bit creepy, and I definitely like that they were tackling his appearance from a different angle, so I congratulate them very much so on that.

He simply seemed too human, and at times it looked a bit goofy; that said, as I've stated before, it was still pretty well done.

I'm not talking about the frequency of appearances, I'm talking about what it's shown doing in said appearances. Seeing it in the corner of your eye, or off in the distance, knowing it's getting closer without seeing it move, watching bad things happen not because you can see it actively doing them, but because the very fabric of reality seems to bend when it's near, thus making the threat both incomprehensible and seemingly unstoppable, for me that's way scarier than seeing it lumber towards you. The more human and relateable its actions, the less terrifying it is to me, if that makes sense. Kind of an Uncanny Valley sort of effect.

Agreed, frightening or not, the entire scene was extremely well done.

I find the uncanny valley thing with the atmosphere of the videos and established history behind their Slender Man to all be a collective reason that it's the most terrifying one.

I think it's a more "Human-like" aspect pulled off well. The Angel's Game is an example of making your Slender Man too human.

I'm not familiar with that one. Worth looking up?

The channel is "theoriginaliendude" and you'd probably have to follow the Unfiction thread on it since there was a lit of ARG aspects to it involving Facebook and stuff.

I...wouldn't say so, tbh. I found the series had a very strong start/middle but it completely fell in on itself at the end. Some people will disagree with that, though.

I will give credit, though, despite their SM being too human, a couple of appearances are utterly horrifying.

I've always been a bit confused by Angel Game's mythos and I didn't keep track of the stuff that follows it like hiscollector and APC but I'm pretty sure IG the actual Slender Man never appeared in AG. It was like, supernatural serial killers dressed as him or something. It's weird stuff.

I liked the series when I was watching it though... for the most part. I agree that the stuff towards the end doesn't follow up on the earlier content. And if I recall there are quite a few videos in the beginning before it actually picks up.

(Massive, Massive Spoilers for The Angel's Game)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The supernatural serial killers are the ones who possessed the main cast, IIRC. Slender Man just assumed the form of the people he killed. Unless this has all been stated otherwise, I don't know anything bout hiscollector or what came after TAG.

I can't say that I really appreciate DarkHarvest's Slenderman because of some of its earlier apperances, like in Log #10:

I mean, look how freaking short and stubby he is. What a turn-off to new viewers.

Not to mention Log #11, where a guy in a Slenderman suit pushes Alex into the snow and runs away. I now assume that was
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a cultist dressed as the Slenderman,
but at the time I didn't know what to think.

Despite this, DH is my second favorite Slendyseries.

I always thought KindVonDerRitter was the guy in the background.

i think you guys missed a big thing

the guy from darkharvest early on isn't the slender man. he's just a guy dressed as him. the real slender man appears a few entries later when they're in a park

the reason that their slender man moves like that is because that's how you would move if your legs and arms were that long. the idea that the slender man can move and touch people has to be shown. mh rarely has people getting physically injured by immediate means. the operator attacks its victims mentally and over a long period of time.

Slender Man makes his first appearance in Log 11 behind a car while Chris/Alex where looking for Kind.

I think, anyway. I don't remember any of the Logs before 10's KindVon in the snow, but most of everything after that is incredibly memorable.

I get that, but I can't really fault them for it. Just tell newer viewers that KindVonDerRitter exists and there will be no confusion regarding the stubby slendy.
