 		Meh. I semi-agree with him on one point. EMH has become pretty bad.

I can sort of see where you are coming from. I mean EMH was my favorite from the beginning, I absolutely adored it. But the further and further we go with the series, I find myself losing interest. Its not that EMH is bad. I just don't find it as engaging as it used to be. I feel that more updates on their part, (even if its just a tweet), would make things a little better.

None of us were around to lock it on page one.

All I can do at this point is say that yeah, people can be civil. If you're civil, then fine, continue discussion until your hearts explode. I'm not going to lock a thread just because some people don't like what other people have to say. That's part of being an adult, it's part of being human, you have to get used to dealing with the gripes of other people.

If it starts getting uncivil and insults start flying about, I'll end up either splitting the thread and moving the unsavory posts into the Troll Chronicles, or just closing it outright.

And for the record, I thought the OP was a poorly-thought out turd with no value. But that's my opinion. Some might disagree with me.

Once again, ARG. EMH is the most ARGy series in the verse. You cannot watch just the videos and hope to understand what is going on. It's like reading the credits and saying you've seen the movie. There is a fantastic wiki with a nice helpful timeline to help you in this. Also your attempt at humor went past my head.

I don't understand what series you are watching that contain no plot development. Every series, good, bad, and terrible all have a cohesive plot. If a plotline goes over your head, or you are too busy comparing everything to MH, then that is your problem.

Also I don't understand the TTA point you are trying to make. You say TTA videos make sense and other proxy videos don't? To be honest TTA videos make little to no sense, in any context. They are just spook fests with little to no meaning in regards to the video. They seldom contain any information, and the easily cracked codes contained in them are cryptic enough to make me want to stop caring. Once again, I am not sure what series you are talking about.

Also, whining and slendy abuse? I am not even going to make a point here.

I'm-a just say at this point: this is why ARGs should do "Previously on..." videos now and then. Fuck your immersion.

 		I have a character who, since the main framing device is compiling information, keeps a basic "What YOU need to know" page running, which is really just a single page to visit to catch up on what you missed. There are way to put this stuff in IG too. ;]

Another one I played, The Crucible, had a player-as-a-character sort of, so she would get behind the scene nudges from the PM to let all of us players know about certain topics ("Do any of you guys remember what happened to so-and-so?") whenever they became relevant again.

Yeah. I mean, I've always thought if you're doing a video diary that you're broadcasting to the general public... I dunno, makes sense that you'd occasionally recap what's been going on. As in, even if you weren't thinking "ermagherd, people need to solve the puzzlezzzz".

If you just watch the EMH videos, it's confusing as fuck.

 		Of course, esp sincce most framing devices are all about "I need help, help me with this thing", so the basis for Nicole to start the page was really "We're confused, I'm confused, let's all get together and tell me what you guys find and I'll update the page weekly for any new helpers or whoever else comes along." Which has also been helpful since I've had some "outsiders" who have been directed to the page too (IG characters like police officers, PIs or such)

I think that could easily be done in a vlog format too, I think that EMH started off with a "Hub" video, didn't they? I think they forgot about it after a while, but that's where I got the idea for Nicole to start the WYNTK thread.


EDIT: and I think My Dad's Tapes did something like that between 'seasons' with the whole "I lost my job...I lost my girlfriend...I have had everything taken from me..." all dramatic and shit. It kind of broke immersion some, but really only because it was so dramatic, he could have easily done it IC/IG.

The again, with MDT there is NO OOG...XD

And the Nr. 2 of the most ARGy series could be CaughtNotSleeping, because for the last 5 Months the story progressed almost purely through chats between some of the IG characters (mostly the antagonists) and the people who are following it.

I think EMH gets a pass because we have a superbly robust wiki for them. Every pixel and syllable gets examined over there, often in more detail than even *I* think is necessary.
