I'm feeling really stupid now, but would someone explain how the hint of the last password puzzle (Eleanor of Aquitane) leads to this solution?

Maybe I missed something really obvious, but I just don't see the connection. Someone please explain and maybe even draw a picture?

That music from the Nanna gate puzzle seems VERY familiar somehow.. and I'm sure it's not just the repetitiveness..

I don't think it's really a clue or anything, I would just want to know what music it is, and if I really have heard it before.

Maybe from a TV series or something? Anyone?

EDIT: ...and I'm not talking about the CCR's Bad Moon Rising, but the previous music befor that... that's kind of obvious isn't it?

EDIT 2: Well, it was in the source code of the puzzle page.. Apparently it's not from a TV show or something like that.. The description says "Originally 'Unfinished Life' by Audiomachine"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0KHS-AD14w

EDIT 3: ...which means it might have been in some movie trailer, since Audiomachine's tracks are used in trailers a lot.

Just that the figure in the background of the page was the Venus of Willendorf so I searched and found one discovered in Aquitaine. There are a lot of legends in European mythos paralleling Eleanor of Aquitaine to the Mother Goddess figure, and as she (Eleanor) was called the one who initiated into holiness through carnal pleasures as opposed to the Virgin Mary who initiated into holiness through "purity", Venus made sense.

Edit to say: I'm a huge nerd and am resisting the urge to post screenshot of each of the screens in case we lose access to these at some point or encase people can't view somethings at work. I don't want to break any rules or anything.

I'd say see about doing that on the wiki Very Happy

Also whats up with the background ruins on the seal page?

I thought the script at first was one of the Celestial alphabets, like of the Magi, Enochian, or Passing the River. They don't work, though. Still working on it just to know.

Obviously the other two are moon and sun.

Thank you for the explanation Smile

Sounds a bit far fetched, considering how easy(ish) the first two were, but it worked. So a big round of applause for your perceptiveness. Well played.

EDIT: My wife thought that the rune-looking symbols next to the moon and the sun could be some sort of Middle-Eastern writing in stead of magical symbols or such. Not Arabic, but something similar, so that the figures would be combinations of basic syllables or letters and, as such, whole words and not singular symbols.

Well, it kind of fit the Great Goddess/consort theme of the first two ^^; But thank you.

With the answer for the first two (the sun chariot and consort Goddess of the sun) it made sense for the third to be a combo with that symbol. The Celts had a thing for triads, where two things are whole unto themselves and together make a third whole thing.

Also, Eleanor of Aquitaine is credited with the created of the Aquitaine Sundial, which her lover supposedly used to know what time their trysts would happen xD

The image is Mr. Green from the movie Clue. The actor is Michael McKean.
That's all I have so far.

Well, this is the Nebo gate.

In Mesopotamian mythology this deity is spelled "Nabu", but in Biblical Hebrew it's "Nebo". I don't know if this has any special significance.

Nebo/Nabu is the god of wisdom and writing. In this game it's associated to the planet Mercury, which gets its name from the Roman deity Mercurius, who is a messenger of gods and a god of merchants and travel.

The background image on the gate-02 page seems to reference to science, and chemistry in particular. There seems to be broken up, puzzle-like pieces of chemical compounds. Elements visible are those of carbon, hydrogen and mercury (!) Perhaps we should research organic compounds with mercury?

EDIT: Yay! Cracked it with the help of my absolutely brilliant wife!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I don't know yet how it's tied with Mr. Green from Clue the movie, but the answer is the name of an organic compound with carbon, hydrogen and mercury

Here is the answer to the first puzzle:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
dimethylmercury

This is for the second part of the Nebo gate:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The painting is "Battle of Camperdown" by Thomas Whitcombe.
Admiral Adam Duncan defeated a large Dutch fleet in this battle.

I think the solution to this riddle would be to send mail to an address, which has something to do with this battle and ends gmail.com. The password would then be sent in return mail.

I've tried sending mail to camperdownSPLATgmail.com, but no answer has come, at least not yet.

EDIT: At least the mail did not bounce directly, so there at least could be such an address. I also tried other addresses, venerableSPLATgmail.com did not bounce either, but no answer.

There has also been a bomb attack to a pub called "Admiral Duncan", maybe something along those lines?

Really nasty stuff, that... you can be killed if a few drops of it are spilled on your hand, even if you are wearing latex gloves. Shocked

Shocked That's kinda scary. I had come to a similar conclusion about the password, but I was missing the prefix! Glad you figured it out.

Now onto puzzle 2...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm trying to find the painting in the image, and maybe that will lead us somewhere.

EDIT:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Found it. It's called The Battle of Camperdown, 11 October 1797 by Thomas Whitcombe, painted 1798.
The description: Masts collapse on the battered Vrijheid as Venerable engages the Dutch flagship from close range. Nearby, fire rages on Hercules.

Guessing about the second puzzle continues:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The painting is "Battle of Camperdown" by Thomas Whitcombe.
Admiral Adam Duncan defeated a large Dutch fleet in this battle.

There has also been a bomb attack to a pub called "Admiral Duncan", maybe something along those lines?

EDIT: Since this gate seems to be science related, and the chemical compound parts on the background image, I'm guessing all three answers could be names of chemical agents. Therefore, the second clue might have something to do with the bombing rather than the naval battle, but it's really anybody's guess at this point.
