 		Is the only way to play this game to get an invite? I downloaded the apps, but I haven't got an activation code.

 		Currently, yes. It will go fully public at some point but right now you need an invite. You can either sign up on ingress.com or appeal to the ingress gods on Google+ by posting something creative that's ingress related (ingress symbol, resistance logo, enlightenment logo, etc) with the tags #ingressinvite and #ingress. I drew a picture of the resistance logo to get my invite. If I get any more invites I'll let you know.

Most of the activity is in the IRC channel below, been involved since last month and it seems like things are really ramping up now. The daily updates sure help.

Today's audio puzzle:

in audacity. Split stereo track and mute/delete the left channel. Apply reverse effect, change sample rate to around 850000, then listen for the Ingress passcode.

Ingress passcodes for in-game items expire after a certain number of users redeem, this one was no exception.

Sorry to bump this, but I thought maybe it could use it. Reddit's kinda dead, and while Google+ is still posting updates, it looks like it's mostly just for the App. I… don't think I quite understand IRC yet, but I'll work on it.
… I'll probably be no help on the puzzles anyway. Sad

Well, the portal hacking app is called Ingress, though I thought I heard something somewhere about a walking//trail map application from google. (I thought someone had mentioned it here, but I guess not.)


Story-wise, I'm now very lost. We're supposed to know who the viator is, according to PAC on 1/21/13. The wiki says Viator is italian for traveler, so it's Hank. (http://niantic.schlarp.com/investigation:documents:chatlogs#parting_words_viator)
But then controlling Cahokia Mounds in order to control him, while he's off exploring on a different continent, doesn't make sense. (Well, short of him finding a portal and them controlling him through it, which also seems kinda iffy.) Am I missing something?

Anyone get lucky?

'A group calling themselves the Verum Inveniri have hidden 100 Ingress activation codes in 20 dead drops around the globe. Coffee shops and libraries look like popular targets. The first dead drops have been spotted in Tokyo and Heidelberg. See

I'm in FL, just received my activation code and just finished most of my training.

Still a little confused about things, but reading up. I stopped looking at things about it after having the app for a long time without an activation code. I'm already getting obsessed with looking for XM and portals.

 		Just found Ingress the app (which appears to be taking all new recruits now) and the Niantic thing. Looks like it died down here a few months back but the game is going strong. Anyone still looking at this?
