Re: anagram

Upon messing with the photo in gimp, I come up with:

teewntetwlyevtlehvtre

Which provdes (as an anagram):

"twelvetwentythree" + "lvte"

Rather than treat it as a random anagram, one can just wrap the text so that it is three columns wide, and then read vertically
Code:
tee
wnt
etw
lye
vtl
ehv
tre
to get twelvet/entythr/etwelve. This was inspired by the picture, which I understood as "stick three skewers down the body of the text". This is a WE short of 12 23 12, with the missing letters inserted at column breaks.
If Jane took the voted for Yahoo answer seriously, she may have set up a new account name with 1223 replaced with something similar, like, say, 122312.
Also worth noting, 12/23/12 is a mm/dd/yy format date that's up rather soon.

"Oh poor little Jane. Looks like I'm the only one who remembered...yyy.sgfmbimwg.dxs/?xvfc1lox7ozevx1"

Yeah, I thought the same. Plus, it was posted on the twenty-third, which was the date from earlier. Maybe a birthday or something?

Okay. So it looks like a mediafire link. This is based on the end of the url being formatted like one, and yyy.sgfmbimwg.dxs works as www.mediafire.com since they have the same length, and the repeat letters match, (m and s, e and g, i and m).

But if you assume that to be true, I can't yet find a pattern in which letters are which. And since I don't have a full alphabet, I can't solve the full URL. And simply leaving the end of it is an invalid link (ie "www.mediafire.com/?xvfc1lox7ozevx1")

However, I DID find the numbers 1223 one after each other, in my numerical messing around with the letters to try and find a pattern, but nothing useful came of it, so I'm assuming it was a coincidence, for now.

It doesn't appear to be a statistically solvable cryptogram. I think brute forcing all remaining combinations is the only way to solve it.

For what its worth here's the Gronsfield key through .com. I don't see much of a pattern...

For the sake of posting it. Assuming things maintain their ciphered value (s is always m etc), then the link looks like "www.mediafire.com/?o~d~~~~o~~~~~o~" where ~'s are the unknowns.

The stuff in the link that we don't know the deciphered values of is : vc1lo7ze.

It looks like monoalphabetic substitution, which would kind of mean we're screwed, if we can't find a key. But, it does mean we should probably be looking for a key... I'm trying to find anything that looks like all 26 letters, but in the wrong order somewhere in Monarch or Jane's accounts.

I'm going to assume that 'www.mediafire.com' is correct. If the key is the cipher side of plaintext > cipher, it'll contain 'dfgi'. If the key is the plaintext side of cipher > plaintext, it'll contain 'row'. (I did the tables for it both ways, and those are the largest continuous letter sequences.)

The plaintext letters that aren't accounted for, so far, are: bghjklnpqstuvxyz. And as Occuliner mentions, the unsolved ciphered letters are: vc1lo7ze. I'm not sure if the numbers are also encrypted, or if we can trust those as they stand.

... And that's my jumping in randomly, for the day...

Links so far:
- Jane @ Yahoo
- Monarch @ Yahoo
- Monarch @ Twitter

A friend realized if you view the page source code of Jane's profile, you can see that her email address is "shadowlinginfinity(DONTSPAM)yahoo.com". You should be able to guess what to replace "(DONTSPAM)" with.

...Do we send an email?

Googling "shadowlinginfinity" returns only her page.

EDIT: Dravenz's post reminded me that I should probably prevent that email address being spammed, just to be polite.

LOL. I just deleted the post since I just figured out the same. Smile

Hi all,

Not taken part in anything since the disappointing Prometheus viral......that stalled and still has locked content even after the movie has been out for ages and even the DVD and BluRay release was months ago....rant over.

This one looks like it could be interesting so I decided to jump on board...

I just sent a quick email to shadowlinginfinitySPLATyahoo.com on the off chance that I'll get a reply. I'm also looking into trying to figure out the URL.

Looking forward to seeing what comes of this.

Cheers,

D.

For whatever reason, that has also my interest. It's weird the things that make you come back here. Smile

Ah, someone did email then
This may take us places

Good, thank-you Dravens.
Would it be possible for you to provide a transcript of your email? I was contemplating emailing in character, that is, whoever hacked Jane's account has come to the attention of me and my peers, could you provide some details of your diary location etc.
It's perfectly fine if you can't too though.

By the by, this is the friend of Occuliner. I decided, seeing as intend to stay interested in this, I wouldn't want to be pestering Occuliner every time I had a thought or query, and generally tire them out with my incessant requests for posting.

EDIT: I found the link. I'll detail the process in a wee bit when I have some free time, but for now I'll post it and you can use and discuss at your discretion

So it's an mp3 of someone singing Happy Birthday, confirming the birthday suspicion for 23rd of December, it's also called "Pig for slaughter" sticking to a theme from that picture on twitter.. It's been played with a bit, I don't know if the playing with the audio is hiding anything or just for effect.

What there IS is a series of numbers in the comment tag for the mp3:

73 116 32 119 97 115 32 119 114 105 116 116 101 110 32 105 110 32 99 111 108 100 32 98 108 111 111 100

Also interestingly the set year for the mp3 is 2006. Maybe something happened 23/12/2006? (Or 12/23/2006 for you Americans)

EDIT:
It's ASCII-chart numbers for "It was written in cold blood."
