If there's anything actually weird in the exif , I'm not recognising it, aside from the part where it has a colour profile that doesn't match the metadata.

This appears to have stopped dead in it's tracks.
Cookie "clue" means nothing to me.
Can't see anything immediately apparent or in the exif of any of the images on the X site.
I can't find anything in the sound file (admittedly, not my strong point).
GM not posing much in the way of info to push this on.
I'm getting a bit frustrated!
EDIT:
Monarch1223 did just follow me on twitter in the last 12 hours so maybe there is movement to come. At least I know the person posting as the Monarch "character" is still alive lol

Idea's for direction Because No way steganographay I've been having a think, and I don't have any answers yet, I thought about trying to get some evidence for this before posting, but it's a big world and I don't know that much. So, I present a theory or two about where to head with this:
I think when she mentions that we should attach this to an "article", think wider. Not journal article, or newspaper article, but 'a particular item or object, typically one of a specified type' -(Oxford American Dictionaries). Her saying
Quote:
I clearly asked this bitch for a cookie. Just like my mother, she never returned it.
She's paraphrasing. This is a colloquial reference to what I suspect is a significant item in Greek mythology, Grimm's fairytales, or the like.
I don't know enough about classics, so at the moment I'm looking blind as I trawl through just for a few keywords like "mother" and "biscuit", but I was hoping with some pushing someone might identify this as a significant plot point/object/character/animal/home-baking in a myth or legend.
I have however found jack all yet, so this is a rather tentative fishing line to follow.
Good luck all.

New character? Mr. Pleides @JustInFamis
The above user just replied to Monarch1223's "darkest fantasy" tweet with the following:
SmFuZSBzYXlzCkknbSBkb25lIHdpdGggU2VyZ2lvCkhlIHRyZWF0cyBtZSBsaWtlIGEgcmFnZG9sbApTaGUgaGlkZXMKVGhlIHRlbGV2aXNpb24g
Which translates to:
"Jane says
I'm done with Sergio
He treats me like a ragdoll
She hides
The television "
I'll look into this on my lunch.
EDIT:
OK, just realized. They are song lyrics from "Jane says" by Janes Addiction.

I think he's just an inspired fan, the reference he makes seems too singular, though he may be proposing it as an idea or direction he thinks the story is going.
I'm still getting nothing on cookies and mothers and returning of things.

Indeed, They have been, and damned if I'm not going to use this thread as I bet this mystery runs further and deeper yet.
In the interest of compiling information, here's a link that was posted to Jane's journal. I haven't given it any hard time, but at the moment I can't fathom the cipher methods used for the various "messages" monarch has left within her journal.

Latest findings... ...more digging to be done... Just noticed this was live again!
Got a reply on my twitter saying:
29 Jan
@Monarch1223 This appears to have died a death. Are we missing something?
3 Nov
@Dravenz A temporary setback...Death is for later.
Not sure if these have been solved before but here we go....
From the blog at:
http://shadowlingjaded.livejournal.com
In the post ("I give up"):
Quote:
"deleted all the hackings every single time.
They keep coming back. So fine. You win. Hope you feel proud of yourself, fucking with a private journal.
Bu, Wnar, lbh xabj ubj V ybir gb jngpu lbh fdhvez.
I give up. I don't have time for this shit anyway. Bye.
Zhhwurx? Gh, Ctgx... Axeeh."
The following was decoded using a simple monoalphabetic substitution cypher:
Bu, Wnar, lbh xabj ubj V ybir gb jngpu lbh fdhvez
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
oh, jane, you know how i love to watch you squirm
And the final bit is:
Zhhwurx? Gh, Ctgx... Axeeh.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Goodbye? No, Jane... Hello.
More to be done but this is a nice wee start. Hopefully the codes keep coming. I'll get the rest of the messages from the journal when I get time.

Stuck!!!
Quote:
B een really really sick… can't seem to beat it. Eve's been trying to help, so up and everything, but nothing's working… throwing up all the time and my eyes burn... think I have a fever... ugh I wanted to make this longer but my head is spinning. Bye.
CYESYSTPGLYBUOEIPEOLRUESEAUIECWHNRANLAHAILRDYNAPN
Within the source code the bold letters are deliberately separated and the long bit is split in 2:
Code:
<div>
<b>B</b>
"een really really sick… can't seem to beat it. Eve's been trying to help, s"
<b>o</b>
"up and everything, but nothing's working… throwing up all the time and my eyes burn... thin"
<b>k</b>
" I have a fever... ugh I wanted to make thi"
<b>s</b>
" longer but my head is spinning. Bye."
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
"CYESYSTPGLYBUOEIPEOLRUESEAUIECWHNRANLAHA"
<wbr></wbr>
"ILRDYNAPN"
</div>
So; we have the following:
Quote:
Boks
CYESYSTPGLYBUOEIPEOLRUESEAUIECWHNRANLAHA
OR:
Quote:
Boks
CYESYSTPGLYBUOEIPEOLRUESEAUIECWHNRANLAHAILRDYNAPN
OR:
Quote:
Boks
CYESYSTPGLYBUOEIPEOLRUESEAUIECWHNRANLAHA
ILRDYNAPN
Looking into this one; not instantly obvious though...
Just realised this has been archived...there was probably no point in me even looking into it
