Uhhh yes he was? White shirt, blue jeans. Bruce.

And I'm sure I briefly saw that telltale beard.

You may have just been seeing what you wanted to see.

I wanted to see Alex. Guess I should give up on that, too!

Woah, I just noticed that at 2:50 when Tim's running through the woods, we see the same type of monochrome black/grey distortion that we do at the end of Entry #43 when Alex is walking towards the Operator. And that's supposedly when he "got in touch with Amy."

What do you mean by "got in touch"?

You mean, what does Alex mean by got in touch? Those are his words, thus the quotation marks.

Alex told Jay he only said he'd gotten in touch with Amy to get Jessica out of the whole mess. He lied.

Correction: In Entry #44 he called Jessica and left a message, saying he "got in touch with Amy". Shortly before, in Entry #43, he left her a message asking if she knew where Amy was.

We don't know if Alex lied, or if he truly found Amy in any sort of way, but it's clear that Alex's motives completely changed after that Operator encounter at the end of #43. And the distortion there is the same kind we see around 2:50 in Entry #65.

Which is right before Tim warps into the place where the dead body is.

And now we're back on topic again :)

I like the idea that remembering past events involving the Operator is how he manages to come back. I mean, after the seven month break, the Operator didn't appear for a while, so that could explain things.

And if what you're saying is true, then that dark place is where The Operator keeps people, both dead and alive. Very Happy

And that's where my theory ends. Is Amy there but Tim didn't see her? Is she dead or alive?

Maybe she rolled off the roof and fell unconscious before the Operator took her. She would technically be alive, but is unable to wake up inside the Operator's realm. And then, say, Alex visits her between #43 and #44, but isn't able to wake her up, and can't carry her out of the realm because only clothes and wearable items can travel with him. Alex tries to return to the Operator's realm throughout season 2, which explains the frequent Rosswood visits, but is unable to for some reason.

This is just pure speculation, and not part of the theory I've talked about in the rest of this topic.

That's an interesting take on it. I don't buy it, though. That would make the Operator pretty ineffective. If the worst he can do is take you for a scary ride, then that's not really so bad. It's just a matter of learning to roll with it; you're not in mortal danger.

And yet we haven't had any instances of the Operator directly killing anyone. Almost all of the Operator's "attacks" on people were carried out by Alex. The only confirmed kill was done entirely by Alex.

I think that's an ongoing problem with the series overall. It's supposed to be a horror series with a terrifying, dangerous monster, but the most dangerous character to this point, as far as we know, is Alex, who just murdered a guy with a rock. That's pretty mundane. Cavemen did that; it's not supernaturally horrifying. We can rationalize it by saying that we just don't know what the Operator does yet, or that he uses mind control to cause violence in others, or that he hurts people in psychological ways, but the fact remains that he's not killed anyone so far. I just think that if it turns out that the Operator really doesn't kill anybody, then that makes him a lot less scary than we thought he was, and I'll be disappointed in the writers if it goes that way. I agree that it's possible that the Operator doesn't kill, and a lot is still up in the air with the missing characters, but I just hope the Operator's nature/motives/powers pay off more strongly than that.

I think and hope in the end we're left not knowing what The Operator does. The not knowing makes it all the spookier after all!

Location: I'm lost, let's ask that bald, tall, faceless guy in a business suit.

Sure, the Operator is mundane and not that terrifing because he hasn't killed anyone. It doesn't really matter if he was the one who broke and maddened that terryfing and creepy guy who killed Bruce with a rock and then snuck the corpse away to another fucking dimension. He wasn't brandishing (is that a correct use of the word?) the rock, so he's clearly not the main antagonist.

*get's kicked back at the rage thread*

I'm telling you, the Operator is just another proxy to a much darker force-- Korrok.
