(and did Tutty mean anything?)

 		And why did Mulligan and Crothers switch Tutty with a potato?

What was the deal with that scene?

The reason the name Tutty was chosen might have had to do with how the French cannon fire blew the TY off of the name on Tutty's bed, leaving just TUT. This seemed significant but is still baffling.

I think Mulligan says "TUT, Potato", which could indicate another letter substitution like 'ill' & 'ele'. I think this is more the point than the switch of Tutty for a potato

If so I would have never gotten that till ya mentioned it.
