Pietro Radillo

I've been contacted by someone called Pietro Radillo on Facebook - a mysterious figure named after the legendAry puppet master.

I have reason to believe this is a continuation of the Vladimir Sirin ARG as he references "previous incarnations".

Not much more yet - unless anyone else can tell me otherwise.

No news here, but I've received the same friend request and came to the same conclusion.

I sent him a message back simply saying "Let's play..." His reply:

Quote:
First thing to do - gather others. Those who you have played with before - and those that haven't. What to offer them? One thing. Just one. Whatever it is that is in my power to give. Art. Money. Something else. Many, hopefully will begin to play, but only one will emerge as a winner.

He also has a couple posts on his Facebook page

Alright, time to share a bit of what I've gotten.

I had the opportunity to speak with Pietro directly a few minutes ago, so let me share a portion of the conversation with you all. The context for this was that I had pointed out that a couple friends of mine were interested, but had no real draw to events because nothing had happened yet.

Pietro Radillo wrote:
Ah, we are in a loop then. One that is hard to both start and create until more subscribe as it were. Think of it like being on a treadmilll - a few have to run to get it going at first before it fully powers up.
Of course, those who are warmed up will not have cramp later on...
And those who join in the wheel while it is going fast do not enter at the right speed...
The wheels are crafted, each within another...

The reason I was compelled to share that was because he specifically mentioned doing so. Take that as you wish.

And since no one has posted it yet here, he does have a twitter account:

https://twitter.com/#!/PietroRadillo

Everything there says much the same thing as we've already seen so far, although there are a couple things that stand out.

Twitter wrote:
He had it coming - 180 years ago today, he saw himself as alive and I see him as dead. Continuity error? Or just a function?

That doesn't seem to fit in with the rest. Also, the two times he's mentioned the number 17.

Facebook wrote:
A proverb, the first, may assist you in gaining wisdom. 17 in, to get to a name.

Twitter wrote:
A proverb, like the first one perhaps, especially 17 for his namesake.

So, there you go. Just a few thoughts.

I think this is a reference to the song "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago. As follows:

Quote:
I loved Al Lipschitz more than I can possibly say.
He was a real artistic guy... Sensitive...a painter.
But he was troubled.
He was always trying to find himself.
He'd go out every night looking for himself and along the way
he found Ruth, Gladys, Rosemary and Irving.
I guess you can say we broke up because of artistic differences.
He saw himself as alive and I saw him dead.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "he had it coming" several times.

Hey guys. Little late on reporting this. His face book said to find him else where and when I found him on twitter I said, "found you else where as requested. He replied with:

Quote:
@TVsNoah Enjoy my comments so far then. One bird has tweeted elsewhere, leading me to respond here. Follow the threads...

Not sure what he means, but seems like a call to action. Also Pietro Radillo was a real person. Lived 1820-1895 and was a master.... you guested it.... puppeteer. He revolutionized the marionette by controlling it with 8 strings.

He also posted the 180 years ago today on May 13. So the date is May 13, 1832. The real Pietro would be 12 at the time.

Theory: I found two "famous" people who died on that date. George Cuvier, a zoologist and Edward Dodwell an Irish painter. Nothing about fowl play, but Cuvier went to Chicago U and Dodwell is a painter. I am thinking Dodwell. I may guess that unless you guys tell me not to.

Quintus, reporting in. Just got the message, haven't been on facebook in a few days. Looking at who he's contacted (me, Dagada, Latent), I'm almost willing to guarantee this is an extension of Vladimir Sirin.

Puppeteer - master of Intueor, perhaps? Someone had to be 'pulling the strings'. Since VS only ever took us through Circadian Phase I, perhaps Pietro is here to kick Phase II into action? Just thoughts.

Received email from pietroradillo@gmail.com this morning

Subject line: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0324061/ month + year

Player,

Stakes: Whatever you put in, you may get back to you.
Money, art, time, effort. This is what you choose to play for as well.

This means whatever you give to this, you will receive back from this,
plus more that will reflect how well you do.

Therefore, this starts with how much you wish to partake:

Real name:
Real address:
Real telephone number:
Real age [under 18s are still welcome to play, but content may be
modified slightly to those - also, permission request needed to give
out other details please]
Any other internet connections/communications that is preferred:
Any time not to contact - this will be respected:

This sounds all nice and polite. Please do not be fooled. These
details WILL be used. You may not want to continue at this point.
Fine. You may only want to continue by email. That is also fine.
You have one week to decide. You may invite others by sending this
email to them. Or posting it on a message board somewhere. All of this
is acceptable. Your details will not be given to anyone not involved
in this game.

It is up to you.

It begins.

Puppeteer.

The link goes to "The Stake" on IMDB, released 12 February 1915.

I've noticed you guys have been speculating about this being an extension of a prior campaign. Will someone please tell me a bit about that last campaign, or link me to its thread? I didn't participate, and I'd like to know a bit about what I'm getting into before I give this stranger my address.

I would be inclined to look to the Lincoln Memorial first since that coincides with "The Stake" down to the day...

This may be looking far too much into it, but February 1915 can also be written as 02/15, which is another recurrence of the number 17 when added together.

Being mobile currently, I can't give links, but the games done by this PM that I know of are Vanessa Atalanta, F.F.E.Y.T and it's second chapter in Venice, Howard Fair, and Vladimir Sirin. As far as giving him your address goes, I'd suggest you do so. I "won" Howard Fair in the end and got a beautiful piece of artwork from him, and I've heard of other players getting interesting game clues that way as well. I've never heard anyone say he used the information for anything but that.

Also, May 2012 is 05/12 is 17. If we're looking for the number seventeen in things, the fact that he's starting this in May is another one.

I figured that if Ink and Singer were getting involved with this one, then I would, too. I messaged him on Facebook last night (as well as inviting all my non-ARG friends to give it a shot). While talking to him, I referred to him as "my ellipsis-loving friend" and he complimented me on my knowledge of punctuation. Near the end of the conversation he linked me to a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0KWnG7Hw8Y) with the comment
