Honestly, Ryan, I think it's best this way.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The main reason Lovecraft's books work so well is because they draw on your imagination. Assigning images to what tons of Lovecraft fans imagine a monster to look like would get angry fans to shout "That's not how it should look!" and all that.
But back on topic, everyone digs giant robots, and I wish that there was more footage of the actual movie.
The "Legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past" is definitely going to be "Gipsy Danger". The blueprint for it is all yellowed from age and has what looks like coffee stains on it, alluding to the robot itself being old as well.

Regarding the "Legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past," I almost think it's going to be something we haven't seen yet. The five Jaegers we know of so far were all deployed within a few years of each other and would probably still be in operation, unless their countries have other, newer models we haven't seen.

i think the real question is....
it is just some viral marketing or do we gonna get some badrobot-esque arg?
i think the second plotline in the movie about this journalist that wants to find out more about the origin of the kaiju's (Anteverse) would be a good base for an arg

So, ever come across a piece of information that you found on the net..thought "cool"...and didn't think too much of it..
That's me right now. Some website listed the name of the obsolete Jaeger and now I can't find it.
Dammit
But I did learn this tidbit
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Apparently the drivers are neurologically linked to their Jaegers. So, when the Jaeger gets injured, the driver feels its pain..
Like @burntto shreds, I'm leaning towards Gypsy Danger
. I took a look at the blueprints again. All have release dates and I assume that means release to fight:
Gypsy danger: 7/7/17
Striker Eureka: 11/2/19
Crimson Typhoon: 8/22/18
Coyote tango: 12/30/15
Cherno Alpha: 7/4/18
Even though the blueprint for Gypsy Danger was trashed, Coyote Tango was the first to be released (date wise)
[/strike]

As someone who's read the AWESOME AS HELL script, I can simply say this:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
That tibit absolutely correct. The drivers can also "connect" with one another in a unique way, such as translating each other's languages over time so that they can understand each other even outside the Jaeger. This is a major character development point since the main character's new female partner initially doesn't speak English, only Japanese.

host Tacit Ronin, and the future Mark 2 Diablo Intercept
I'm assuming Tacit Ronin is a yet to be uncovered Jaeger. It's release date, I'm assuming, is in 2016...puts it in between Coyote Tango and Gypsy Danger.
Anyone have any idea how many if these bad boys are out there?
I'm with @gramma..hoping there is an actual ARG to this ( although, I do LOVE me some viral marketing)..
My hypothesis..mild spoilers, FYI
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The ARG will lie with either the driver who got his hands on something he shouldn't of..or the guy posting the YouTube videos..or Raleigh's ex, a journalist uncovering a story
But again, my two cents. It's what...eight-ish months til the movie? If there is no ARG behind it, then that is a huge timeframe for just a viral
Edit: this.is.awesome.

The problem is that Coyote Tango is a one-man Jaeger. The thing that had me confused is that Gypsy Danger is the one on the comic con poster (the more or less official poster you'd see on wikipedia or IMDB), which led me to believe that it's the main one. Maybe the movie takes place way down the line, in the mid 2020s or something, when they've supposedly exhausted their resources and Gypsy is the last one left because the PPDC believed that shinier newer Jaegers could handle the job.

The Pacific Rim writer has already been tapped to write the sequel... the studio must be impressed with how the movie is coming along.

In my area, it's tomorrow afternoon. If you guys aren't able to stay awake you'll have at least 1 person to see what happens...

Count me in too. I'm hoping for some more goodies than just a trailer.

Same here, but if it's just a trailer, then that's no problem, too IMO.
