I know, and they could've chosen a better voice. The problem is now there are going to be a lot of fanboys and such going "OMG GlaDOS XD".

this is what del toro said about the known fact (for months) that on one jaeger we will have glados as voice
"I'm a big fan of Valve," del Toro said, adding "Portal and Left 4 Dead have been instrumental family experiences at my house." When Del Toro made the call to Gabe Newell, del Toro used his daughter's influence to seal the deal. "Like a complete geek," according to Del Toro, she - he didn't specify which of his two children it was - let her love for Valve shine through, and helped clinch it. "My family was instrumental," del Toro beamed.

I'm just worried that people are going to go see it because "OMG GlaDOS is in it!" instead of "Holy crap, giant robots with
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Rocket-powered punches!
fighting giant monsters!"
I hope that Del Toro focused more on the interactions between the two pilots of Gipsy Danger, keeping the GlaDOS AI to a minimum instead of shoehorning it in as much as possible.

So...trailer. Thoughts? Discussions? ( other than AIs and GLaDoS)
I thought I saw Charlie Day in there... I'm thinking he's the guy who got ahold of something he shouldn't of.

The Jaegers look awesome. I'm confident that the CGI artists will make every punch, slash, kick and bite look like they have serious impact. You know what I mean, when you see giant robots or monsters in anime and when they hit something, it really looks like they hit something. Satisfying impacts like that are important. Otherwise, the audience won't find the battles entertaining.
Also from the trailer, it looks like there are going to be a good amount of scenes with just the pilots doing regular things and maybe training, possibly focusing on getting the two pilots of Gipsy to get to know each other and sync up properly. Character interactions such as this are just as important as the Jaeger vs Kaiju fight scenes. You see the whole "Human/s behind the machine" thing in pretty much every piece of fiction where giant robots are found.

charlie day is in there because he is the nerd/scientific with the female journalist sidekick, who wants to find out about the origin and the solution to this cardiff alike rift between dimensions
somehow i still think the same (since the comic con interview from del toro regarding GLaDOS) this is some kind of valve inspired movie - or it is even a movie located in the halflife, portal, blackmesa universe
think about this.......
del toro wants to work with valve for his own game project named insane (after thq dropped him)
the allmighty gabe nevell from valve wants to work with del toro
del toro said exactly: "I called the guys at Valve and said, you know how much I am a fan of Portal, can the AI be GlaDOS?"
ok at the point he said that, there is no evidence before that date he made his love for portal public - so they had been in contact before (if you take it word by word)
he asked if GLaDOS can be the Ai
Aperture Science (portal/glados), Blackmesa (half life)......
...the dimensional portal that gets created in halflife 1.............flushing creatures into our dimension
the white suits and a lot of tech in the trailer just looks like it is cut out directly from the portal or halflife games
just absolutely coincidence or fanboi-izm from del toro............or is GLaDOS there for a special plot/synopsis reason

It don't think that's the case. Making a 200 million dollar movie so that it can tie into a videogame series where the only thing that we've seen them have in common is the voice of an AI just sounds absurd.
Anyways, I want to see how Japan's Coyote Tango handles with just one pilot. I like it's apparently simple design (The blueprints on the site are in Japanese, so I don't know if it anything super-high-tech) where it's just a robot with (what looks like) two gigantic cannons strapped to its back and nothing else

Here's what makes me think we should keep an eye on Gipsy Danger: The information on the nuclear vortex turbine has been crossed off the blueprint. It said "Health checks returned radio chemical readings in excess of safety parameters, see log 3.21_OCT16". I assume that's the same reactors discussed in the leaked French document from 26 July 2014, 3 years before the launch of Gipsy Danger.

If movies have taught me anything, it's that any time there's some kind of nuclear reactor in a film, it's probably going to be blown up near the end of the movie.

Or that a character we grow to like will die of radiation poisoning.
So, just speculation: something opened that rift in the sea...something a big, bad corporation caused ( oil drilling, perhaps?). While the others kick ass, Charlie day's character is looking for a way to close it?
Either way, I'm not putting too much analysis into it. If its nothing but a monster v jaeger movie, I'm sold ( but then I'm easily amused). The three armed guy ( the one released into the sea with the Russian jaeger ( Cherno Alpha?) is the one I want to see in action.
Isn't Gipsy Danger the obsolete one?
