Let me know if you guys find anything interesting. I purchased all the ebook versions of the comics and could provide high-res screenshots if needed.

Still trying to figure out what's so special about that image data. I've found the block of data that's extra - it's about 11kb, but definitely isn't raw text. I've never really dug around inside files before, so I could just be leading us down a wrong trail - but I'm learning a lot, so I guess it's worthwhile?

Edit: I'm throwing in some technobabble below, again I don't really know what I'm doing so this could be wrong, but here's my current theory.

First 17 bytes of cover photo:

The timeline photo has the header normally used in .jpg files, however the cover photo doesn't. I've tried googling a bit but can't really find anything at the moment...hopefully somebody else finds this info helpful though! I can post more of the hex dump if needed.

 		So as far as I can see, ICC_PROFILE and JFIF are various technical data in JPG. Perhaps it was saved with various compression or so...

Btw. thank you people for clarification about cannon and non-cannon, we should keep it always in mind.

Not necessarily. One if the theories about the plot is that Bendict Cumberbatch's character ( whom I will call John..Which is the possible character name. I just don't want to type out Benedict's name constantly).

Anyway, there is a theory that John has an issue with Kirk. Kirk is the head of the 1707 (enterprise). Therefor, are you "one of the" 1701 leads me to think that the ARG will center around John and his issue with the enterprise and her crew.

I increased the exposure on the picture and the objects detailed enough to be something. Could this be a puzzle? Maybe we have to find other pictures from social networking sites (etc..) so that we can combine the parts and make a full picture.

I toyed around with it and it almost looks like a weapon or the ship.
(I have not re-sized them).

 		Thanks everyone! Yeah thought it could be a ship of some sort.
I said on the chat that the left image could look like half of a ship (in birds eye view).
When mirrored it looks like this:


However the right image still looks like a handle of a gun. So I'm not sure. Thoughts?

 		The Trailers show Cumberbatch in a federation outfit.
Khan was never a member of the federation..But if you look closely, it does appear he has slightly pointed ears..
Vulcan, Romulan or Klingon?

Also, in an interview I saw somewhere, he slipped and said he plays a new villain to the series named John Harrison.
