I downloaded the software for this weekend's beta mission -- it took me almost eleven hours to download on my home DSL. The game runs very well on my recently-upgraded computer. Too bad I don't enjoy the pressure to shoot at things. I played for about half an hour before becoming frustrated with learning to use keyboard controls. I really just wanted to be able to roam the land and explore. Has anyone else been playing the game yet?

I've been part of the beta for a long time now, I am an avid mmo player so I dont find the keys frustrating since they are familiar to me. This is a great mmotps and I would recommend keeping at it and eventually it wont feel so weird. A big thing that will help you get accustomed to the controls is to slow down the mouse speed, You can do this buy opening the options list, you can also rebind keys from the interface as well, I use a 5 button mouse so I binded reload, melee, grenade, and my EGO power all on the mouse, that just leaves asdw for movement I bound dodge to Q, crouch to ALT and sprint to Shift. Hope that helps.
The game is a themepark mmo which means it has a set up story line that you progress through by completing "quests". There are also dynamic events that pop up randomly in the form of arkfalls. Arkfalls are probably some of the best dynamic content I have played and some of the end bosses in them are massive massive bugs that are just SO fun to defeat. The NDA has recently been lifted so expect a lot of streaming of this game this weekend. And I feel you on the long download time, for some reason the alpha patcher had some sort of problem that made the download extremely slow, I didnt have this problem with the beta patcher though.

I have been playing the PC beta for the past 2 now 3 days it runs great took about 3 hours to download (my first 2 attempts being beta 1 and 2 never completed install because it took too long *3rd times the charm*) My new graphics card makes the game look fantastic I've gone around a lot in the game make sure to watch http://www.twitch.tv/search?query=defiance#stq=defiance&stp=1 for streams of the beta!
