Here's what I've determined so far... I'm not sure about the green ones. The needle-thing has to be something, but I'm not sure about the logo (very USB-like) or the dove & leaves (might just be another Christmas decor)...
Vanishing Point is a killer though... so many puzzles were used there, trying to remember if any of the 'decorations' are references to a puzzle...

Other campaigns not represented are listed in the corner. hmm...

(note I've separated Flynn's Arcade from Flynn Lives, because the Arcade was a crazy awesome Comic-Con event with the light cycle on display; seemed an appropriate connection)

I did all notice the USB stone like a USB-Peace symbol?

I was at first thinking everything came in pairs, even the projects. But clearly that's not true... but the 'extra' decor still looks like there might be thematic pairings... the gingerbread people, for instance.

Gingerbread man / woman
Squirrel / dove
Large / small present
Two ornaments with black inner rings
Candy cane sticks top / bottom

- The 'snow flake' symbols - the scarf and sleigh with two each, plus a single black on white and a white on black, though there's the other black on white logo with a slightly adjusted design
- There are two single ornaments with designs on them (top left and below the sleigh)
- The two white dots in the top
- The string of lights for some reason has me thinking of Vanishing Point
- The globe ornament is the only 3D looking object, really, in the collage
- The 'flake' below Project Abraham has a smaller version at 9:00 and a smaller smaller version above the stocking
- That leaves three somewhat similar star patterns above and left of Project Abraham and above Last Call...

Confused

Oh, and of course the reindeer Razz

I knew there was something to this when I first got my card. I needed greater minds.

Quote:

the ornaments are original Tron disks.

The disk with the triangles below Alcatraz is definitely something but it has been so long. I believe it is from Vanishing Point but don't quote me. I know I have seen it before.

The ornament with the stars is possibly Vanishing Point as well. There was alot to that game in such a short time.

I feel the squirrel and deer are something and look familiar too but I have not played ALL of 42's games. The one star goes with the squirrell though.

What is with the 2 snow balls here?

Is there anything in there for this one?
Superman Roller Coaster: Ride of Steel (2009)

Also, in the archives, I found they did a promo for Slurpee called Pennyville Falls.

And, would you separate the "Fire Rises" promo for the movie "Dark Knight Rises", or include it with "Why So Serious ?"

Oh, OH! I found that thing that looked like a steampunk fountain pen. It is the tattoo inking tool on this site, from the campaign for "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" (thebruce called it Mouth Taped Shut):

What I found to be odd about the card was the fact that it is written '42E' on it.
I remember when the Flynn Lives ARG was going on, a player was specifically requested to inform us that the company name was 42 Entertainment and not 42E.

I don't think there is any significance to that, I just found it weird.

That's right. But the logo at the 42 Entertainment Office shows 42E with the same typography that the one on the card.

I beleive it may have just been legal problems at that moment in time and nothing else now they most likly dont care. Also it easier to fit 42E on that card then 42 Entertainment when theres a bunch of things in such a small area.

Ooh, nice catches... Superman I remember, but Pennyville Falls, that's new (to me) =)

I don't believe TDK Rises was handled by 42 Entertainment... if I recall correctly, it was a gimmicky image reveal and nothing more, I think, or am I forgetting something?

Ahh, right. That was my suspicion as it's the closest thematically to the artifact, but I didn't really play that one, and I couldn't find any image media that had anything like that... except, of course, on that website Razz good find.

The primary reference I used was their list of case studies on their site, but it doesn't list all their projects, and it seems some of those listed might also not be represented in the design.

Aye, and they may not just be accepting that people tend to refer to them as 42E, as it's short and recognizable, and much easier to roll off the tongue than 42 Entertainment. Smile

I just got my card in the mail.
It's a nice gesture but yeah I can't help but think there is something to the design. I'm also sad that I can't ID many of the references myself so I can't help ID any that remain...if anything I would guess that there may be a hidden trailhead to a new game...maybe the arrangement of the clues reveals a message?

It's a beautiful card regardless and when I opened my mailbox I thought I'd won a golden ticket or something.

Bruce, I think the thing just above the sleigh that you have colored green is a stylized jingle bell.

So not only can several objects be paired but it seems the prominent non-game objects all start with the letter "S."

Scarf, Stocking, Sleigh, Stag, and Squirrel.
"42E" could be considered a Sign or Stencil.

???

Huh, interesting theory. Haven't seen any bells with that pattern, only the even "+" cut ball bell, which can't really produce that style from any viewing angle... but it's possible there are some bells cut in that manner. *shrug*

Also interesting!

...not sure if any of this is getting us anywhere now Razz Increasingly feeling like there's nothing more in here than a neat "all our projects are wishing you a happy holiday" greeting

http://www.youtube.com/user/destinygame/home The guys shirt has a similar layout of the holiday card. Also looks like the Pirates of the Carribean outline of one of the objects. Is this a hint that 42E is working with Bungie again? Or pure coincedince?
