How does one determine an Octal pattern? With the new number set, could it be added to the end of the first set?

The numbers in the video and the numbers in the tweet can't be octal, because they contain digits after 7. Octal only contains 0-7.

The problem with a Playfair specifically is the base convention thereof: the 5x5 grid. A Playfair cipher only works if the number pairs never variate from five digits; all ten are represented here.

Likewise, if we assume that half of the digits represent an x, and the other half a y, we still have the problem of "27" and "72" referring to the same letter, leading to a string of three letters, something that cannot happen in the English language.

It's a good effort, though.

Umm, that's not the Playfair cipher I know. I was thinking that each number corresponds to a letter, giving us the digraphs we would decrypt in the grid.
For example:
1=A, 2=B... so 72 is GB, 57 is EG, 13 is AC...
If we were to take the keyword as, say, "OPERATOR", we get
O P E R A
T B C D F
G H I J K
L M N S U
V W X Y Z
GB becomes TH, EG becomes IO, AC becomes FE, etc.
I'm not at home right now, so I'll play around with this until the letters spell out "GO TO SLEEP IDIOT"

Interesting. That is indeed the original Playfair. (It is not, however, the cipher I was referring to, which is also called the Playfair. That's my error.)

It's...still probably not right.

Also they don't form groups of three numbers, which is also a necessary thing when translating from octal into ASCII text.

I'd suggest waiting it out for another key, but I know damn well I can't do that. I've been running numbers in my head for a week now.

I would, but I don't know anything about this number business.

Code:

9513390313793583953179

Seriously though.

It probably says "By the time you're done decoding this, I'll have achieved my master plan and you'll have been too busy solving my pointless riddles to have done anything to stop me, you schmuck."

It could say "Ha ha, fuck you." That's eleven letters.

Maybe it's a poem...

"Dear Jay,
Your attempts to solve my riddles have been half-hearted
I'm not sure if you're lazy or just retarded..."

I'm aware that this is probably a farfetched attempt, but, hey, there has to be at least one person on this forum who can solve the puzzles of the Trosephim.

(Off Topic: Trosephim sounds like a rank of angels. "Behold the seraph with his fiery sword, the ophan, the wheel with eyes and the troseph, who shall torture your mind to no end." Very Happy )

Still no luck from me. Tried the Playfair code discussed above using "continue" as key, but yielded nothing for me... that's not to say that someone more adept with it could come up with something.

Here's a link I found to a Playfair breaker:

http://www.quinapalus.com/cgi-bin/playfair?plt=noeunitnoc&cpt=continueon&dict=0&ent=Search

Again, I'm not that familiar with Playfair, but at least it's a tool for any of you who are interested.

Latest tweet from Jay:

It should go without saying that I'm not the one that did the last tweet.

Last two tweets, a series of numbers and then they just tweeted that Jay did not post that last tweet...

I think people should probably start getting on the possibility of what the numbers that TTA tweeted can mean, this is like another tweetpocalypse imo

So, since I have no particular skills at the decrypting / deciphering thing, but I want to be helpful...

For the transposition cipher angle, has anyone tried the keyword 'helies'? Not sure how easy this is to check, but hey. It might help?

That's pretty damn cool. Troy is enjoying our futility.

On that note, it must be hard to create something you want people to figure out, but not right away. Much like many games, devising challenges that feel like you're supposed to lose until you manage to squeak out a victory.

Welp. That one's jossed. Also a confirmation that Troy is either directly responsible for the code, or is taking credit and responsibility. Thus he knows, and is fucking with us.

Excellent.
