Actually, I have to question that assumption. When have we ever had control over the direction in the plot in any sense? Even when EMH was at its most interactive, we mostly just found background material, & the narrative continued in a relatively linear fashion. Don't get me wrong, it's certainly possible that they've planned some kind of big turning point, but I'm not sure why we're assuming that is definitely the case.

Even if you don't want me to apply "OOG reasoning," I still come to the same conclusion. So far, we have absolutely nothing solid that says we can affect HABIT's & Slenderman's plans in any significant way.

Is that disparaging? Maybe slightly. But whether this did go "Choose Your Own Adventure" or is remaining linear, regardless of the pros & cons of each, it is what it is.

As for the montage, it does go fairly fast, but I recognized most of the clips. It seemed to be a chronological progression through several events in the series. Nothing immediately stands out to me as a hidden secret, though of course, it's not completely baseless, as HABIT has done that before.

We have to know exactly how Vince is going to go about bringing out HABIT.
He must know something that we don't. He must tell us before we can help him because without us knowing everything we cannot guide him on the right path.

We've never tried to hide anything from them, why is he hiding something from us?

I suspect it might involve playing Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr., records. Wait for HABIT to manifest and then drop the Rat Pack Trap, bing bang boom.

But seriously, I'm not as opposed to the idea of summoning HABIT as the majority appears to be. I'm assuming that the much more reasonable tactic of searching for Mrs. Corenthal has already been considered and, for whatever reason, rejected, so there might not be anything left on the table. Desperate times (and endgames) call for desperate measures.

The thing that most concerns me is that we have a hint that Vinnie intends to do this without Evan's willing participation--why else would he have been so furtive in the last video if he were intending to bring Evan on board? This is a recipe for disaster, if for no other reason than that he won't be able to sufficiently restrain Evan before summoning up HABIT.

But yeah, before going forward it would be nice if Vinnie would come clean with some of the stuff he's apparently been withholding. What does he know that we don't?

My face when he doesn't know anything.

Seriously, he's been holed up moping in his house for weeks on end pulling knives on things that go bump in the night. And when HABIT appeared to be on his doorstep, he called the cops & threatened him with a wrench.

These are not the actions of a secret mastermind.

Maybe somebody brought this up already...

but did glennreick work against the boys yet? He said he would for the files.

I'mma be watching out for him. HABIT's probably got great ideas for this.

Not yet that I know of. Though despite the promise back then, there's no real obligation to do anything for HABIT, especially now.

Lithp, it's how we got the "Password Protected Files." HABIT asked what we would do to get them. Glenn, or grieck, said that he would "even work against the boys if necessary" to get at the files. HABIT implied that he would call that favor in at some point.

I believe summoning HABIT could be as easy as this: Evan and Vinnie would have to find and f*** with his main ally/contender: Slendy. Since HABIT's the one that seems to have killing rights in their agreement (at least for the main 4), they'd just wait for HABIT to interfere. They might even be able to kill two birds with one stone that way (I use that idiom loosely, of course).

You really think so? :C It would be a pretty crap move to end so suddenly, and without any revelation. I've been hoping that if they do die, it'll just be a reset of the reiteration.

That would be really awesome actually. Next video: regular work out video, and they find a tape of their epic showdown.
But that's just wishful thinking q_q They're better showman than I feel you suggest, but you're probably right that any encounter they have with HABIT at this point will lead to both of their demise. What happens afterward is still up for debate

I feel the need to bump this again, because the amount of relevance it has to what's going on is massive. WE NEED TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHERE THIS GOES. The last thing I want to see is the series end because everyone wanted to see HABIT again. I was fuming mad when Jeff, Alex, and Jessie died, and if Vin or Evan are screwed over because of a bad decision, I shall ragequit on this game.

No, this is just silly. The 'gamemaster(s)' will guide the series to the conclusion they see fit. Otherwise no one should ever comment ever, this is just a thinly veiled strawman.

EMH has very few ARG elements left, if any, so you aren't really 'playing' anything.
