But...he didn't. That entry only showed that there was a place that Corenthal was that the monsters couldn't easily get into. Which Vinny got to ALIVE. Corenthal also wasn't like, "Stay here, & we'll form a counterattack!" or anything. All of that adds up to a really dumb reason to kill yourself, as the plan is likely to be horribly wrong.

The reason the characters never mention the Iteration Theory is probably because they don't believe it. From an OOC perspective, this is either because it is very right, or very wrong.

He's referring to the sequence where Vinny saw all the alternate versions of the EMH crew in the basement. I disagree that moment would confirm Iteration Theory, though.

Whatever's happening with Evan serves as pretty strong evidence that Iteration Theory is either true, or elements of Iteration Theory (meaning the team's inability to die contingent on certain elements) are true.

My question is why they would want to seek out HABIT before our other creatures. I mean, like it or not, it appeared Slenderman was willing to communicate with Vinny a few entries ago, when Slendy delivered that video with the rice sticker on it. I know it's not really possible to communicate with The Rake (which Evan maybe killed? Wasn't really clear to me) but Slendy seems far more amicable than HABIT at this point in the series.

Slenderman doesn't actually talk though. At least not in a way that isn't overly obscure.

Because, as I told Vinny through the comments, HABIT could've killed him, but he didn't. HABIT talks. And talks. and talks. The Rake has whispered to Alex prophecies of what was coming, but now Alex is "dead" (clearly saw the guy in "Next"). The Rake wasn't killed by Evan, he clearly said that after decapitating it it was gnashing its teeth at him. So even if he subdued it by cutiing him into pieces, I'm guessing it is still classifiable "alive".

Slender Man seems amicable... but Vinny has had enough encounters to know communication isnt possible.
Vinny needs someone who can say words put together in a from he can understand. Slender Man may be guiding him, but it's a lot different than getting answers.

So, In my mind, it's just a horrible situation where the only one with the answers is the psychotic possessive force that clearly is more hellbent on carnage than even The Rake (as it targets specific people).

So ya, trying to talk to Slenderman seems "safe", but I feel like Vinny is just trying to solve this without anyone else getting hurt.

Whether he knows what happened to Damsel and the baby (aside from the video where they are at HABIT's mercy) is unclear.

Kind of off topic... but in the most recent episode of Doctor Who, did the creature in the pocket universe resemble the Rake to anyone else?

More related, after the Corenthal Connection, the incident in the storage place, the cast seems to be terrified of Slenderman - they know the basics of the Slender mythos, based upon the fact that they started their series with jokes about it. They're probably the least terrified of HABIT, and Vince has a link to him with Evan right there.

I'm planning on rewatching this series, using the following playlist made by some very helpful people.

Anyone else on board with a restart of the discussions and theories?

Well don't you worry because it's not over yet! They've still got some ways to go.

I only finished watching EMH after a mammoth few days of watching it nonstop about a month or so ago - I love this series. I love the depth, the acting, it's dark and brutal. Love it.

As for the Slender Man leaving Vinny the hard drive... I feel like HABIT is a threat in some way to the Slender Man himself, like he's a force that he can't control with fear like he can the cast - and that makes him very dangerous.

So, he leaves the hard drive for Vinny to find, for him to find a way to stop HABIT before he causes more carnage that the Slender Man has no control over.

I dunno. My thoughts.

There's a lot more evidence that he left it for Vinny because he & HABIT work together.

Favorite episode

So...since EMH is suffering from a bad case of we're-so-traumatized-we-can't-upload-another-video-disease, let's talk about your favorite episodes of the series.

Mine is "The property" I thought his travels through the houses were cool, his meeting with Dr. C...and how it puts some hope in the series.

I have a few contenders:

That one where HABIT fucking montages all of the death scenes. A montage episode in a series that's supposed to be set IRL. It's so dumb when you describe it, but it's executed flawlessly. The romance song being reinterpreted as a threat also really captured the perverse, sadistic nature of HABIT.

The one where the Rake attacks. The fact that they didn't cut away for it made me stop flip-flopping on the series, & respect it immensely. Plus, Evan threw the Rake out of a window, & somehow it didn't make it feel any less scary. That's why I'll be sad if we don't get to see any of the most recent Rake fight.

When HABIT abducts Jeff. Starts off with false hope, then gets very suspenseful. Great example of EMH having a soundtrack that complements the scenes, & that actually making sense in context. And that grin at the end.

Alex getting knocked off. It was one of the highest moments of desperation in the series, & established Slenderman as a solid threat. Other good things about it were Vince's acting, the subtle little reference to the Rake being prophetic, & the interaction with the antagonists--Slenderman killed Alex just as he was about to reveal something useful to the cast, & viewers.
