I'll have to start the "target demographic" club then.

I would love to help...but this request comes from someone that's not a registered member of uF, with no real information, no real requirements, and the email? Here:

NONECOM.TK
Your selected domain name is a FREE Dot TK domain name. That means that, according to the Terms and Conditions of FREE Dot TK domain names, the registrant is:

BV Dot TK / Dot TK administrator
P.O. Box 11774
1001 GT Amsterdam
Netherlands

Due to restrictions in Dot TK's Privacy Statement personal information about the user of the domain name cannot be released.

Sorry but while I would love to help you guys I really really don't feel comfortable with this post. Confused

ndemeter: I totally understand. I AM a registered member, but all I can say is the ARG I'm involved with is ongoing. If I post as my usual self, well, it might tip someone off to what I'm working on. I went through some more official channels(namely, talking to PMs I know) and actually got what I was looking for. Thanks for keeping the community on guard though Smile

PS: .tk is a domain forwarder. Register any .tk and forward it to your website(like Tumblr, Facebook, Myspace, whatever) and get a free little domain name. Nifty service, offers email forwarding to my gmail, too Smile

Cool. Glad you got what you were looking for. And looking forward to lurking/playing your game. And when this is over you'll have to poke me and tell me who you are. Smile

Elite_fencer is Gregory's age also. as well as a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

I'm joining that club! I'm Greg's age too.

Makes me the oldest member of the Young People's Club, I think.

Do you think it is possible to find (kind of) paid jobs here

Hello!
I just noticed this long thread, don't know if this is the right place to post, anyway:
I am looking for some (small) revenue income, I have good experience and skills in scriptwriting and writing, OK skills with regards to audio and video editing, can make a decent looking website but nothing too fancy - a little HTML, a little Flash, Fireworks; some acting in my past (I sing as well), and I was trained as a cross media producer, so I am used to thinking out of the box.
Amazing google skills Wink and vast general knowledge of many topics at an academic level.
Narrative and conspiracy skills are better than puzzle skills.
At the moment I am based in Italy, so the time zone might be different (I am a night person, though). I can also work in Italian and French if necessary.

Well your options are rather limited when it comes to paying jobs. Sure, you can get hired by a company like 42E that will pay you to work on ARGs but then again you are in Italy which limits your exposure (because every once in a while it's just good to have a face to face meeting).

Any revenue generated by the genre is usually post-game. Either the success of the game can generate interest for a sequel which in turn can be sponsored thus have a revenue stream or as a creator you can be widly successful and have future work of yours move to an advertising angle which then becomes a steady revenue stream.

My experience differs from ndemeter's. Like he said, you can get in touch with companies, but I've been keeping a roof over my head by creating ARGs since 2002 and working with established ARG teams has only been a fraction of my source of income. And, while distance may be an issue, I have only had to relocate once (I spent a summer in Canada for Xenophile). Of course, I traveled to LA weekly when I was working with 42 Entertainment which was a bit of a part-time relocation, I suppose. The rest has all been handled remotely or through infrequent travel.

As far as payment is concerned, as a consultant & contractor, how the revenue generated by the game isn't really my concern. I get paid by the company that hires me and they get paid by the company that contracts them. If they've worked out some sort of deal where they only get paid after the game is complete, that's their business, not mine. How I get paid varies by the project (generally in regard to the size, length, and scope of the contract). Sometimes it's a regularly scheduled payment, but for short term consulting type gigs it tends to be a chunk of change up front and the bulk after the fact.
