Either way, I certainly hope it doesn't happen. The story should be over when it is over.

What I'm saying is, after the main series is finished, presumably after Season 3 ends (but then again, they thought Season 2 was going to be the end, too) what if new characters, a new crew and new cast took over the Marble Hornets canon universe and were all-new victims of the Operator and his proxies? Like, Trosephim would still probably be the executive producers, while they're busy on their comedy show-- but it would be a whole new cast and story set in the same canon as the original series.

No.

It wasn't a "yes or no" question, it was a "what if" question...

Let's face it, people don't like change. So it probably wouldn't happen haha.

Sometimes change is a good thing, though. Like when they remake shitty movies into good movies. I'll pitch you an example:

The Hills Have Eyes. The remake of the original Wes Craven movie is fantastic, especially given the drivel that is its source material. The original 70s movie didn't even have an ending, or much of a coherent plot for that matter. Now, I'm not saying that the 2000s remake of The Hills Have Eyes is a masterpiece of cinema like Citizen Kane or Gone With the Wind or anything, but it is a far superior film to its basis. And furthermore, it's enjoyable, which cannot be said of the original.

Now, Marble Hornets isn't drivel, nor is it unenjoyable and suck both ways, the way the 1970s Wes Craven version of The Hills Have Eyes did, which makes it a tough act to follow, which brings me to the Star Trek: The Next Generation argument-- two totally different shows, set in the same canon, yet with completely different characters. The same for Deep Space Nine and Voyager-- people love those shows. So I guess what I'm suggesting is more of a spin-off than a sequel, yet still a continuation.

Well, I get the impression that Marble Hornets isn't the type of story that takes well to a sequel. Some things are just better as stand-alones.

Yeah, this series is more personal and character driven. If you just changed out the entire cast, the effects would be way too jarring and would shatter immersion, which is a necessity for Marble Hornets.

That's a great idea! We could have a spin-off based around Sarah from the original cast! Genius, Serum, genius!

I'm really sorry. I just couldn't resist it Twisted Evil

Ironically, this is the only way I could conceivably see a spinoff even being done. Marble Hornets ends, but there's still some lingering mystery, which maybe wasn't important, but is now forced to the forefront.

Because in order to prevent it from being a rehash of shit we've already seen before, you'd have to basically change the whole problem. Presumably, we know who Totheark is, what happened to most of the cast, generally what peoples' motives are, & what has happened to all of the major characters.

So if you want a new "proxy," you need them to be motivated/caused by something completely different, & you need other unsolved problems. Plus, a background character could have ties that explain the new cast.

Sounds like a bad idea, doesn't it? That's why I really think MH should be a one time story. It's just too small & contained of a world.

I just couldn't really see this happening. Marble Hornets doesn't really have a lot of lore or backstory, so creating a spinoff wouldn't really work. There wouldn't really be a sense of familiarity because everything that Marble Hornets is, wouldn't be in the sequel. The only thing that would be more or less the same is the Operator, so in that case it might as well be a standalone, separate series like TribeTwelve.

They should go ahead with Alex's angst-ridden melodrama, Marble Hornets the Movie.

Complete with Operator appearances in the background that are never explained within the movie itself. Twisted Evil

*dies laughing* This. So much this. I could so see something with someone walking up to him in a scene and being like 'Sir? Do you know the time?' and Slendy just shrugs.

$20 says they kill the Operator (or banish him to another realm, or some shit) eliminating the possibility of a sequel or spinoff.

I honestly feel like this should be it. Just Marble Hornets. Sure if they wanted to start a new project that would be cool, but not a sequel.

I will miss Marble Hornets, but I don't think they should do a sequel or a spinoff. I hope they give us a satisfactory ending, so we could remember the series with a smile, but anything else. I think it would be the best.

I'm glad you put it like this, because before I read this my immediate thought was of Blair Witch 2. And we all know how awful that was Sad

In answer to your question, I would love to see some more parodies. Something like Marble Cutboys. But I think when the official Marble Hornets is over, it'll just be over. It's sad, really. I enjoyed this series.
