The most frightening thing about the slender man used to be a result of your mind trying to associate human expressions and intentions with him, then getting confused, resulting in a fear of the unknown response. Adding tentacles destroys your ability to subconsciously think of him as human, making him less creepy in the long run. Don't get me wrong, he can still be frightening, he just can't be truly terrifying with tentacles. Does that make sense?

Honestly I find it better when a series does something unique to theirs. I mean, the tentacles are cool when done right, but the wings from ICSTG and leg branches things from Osiris Chronicles are the kind of shit I love to see.
So I guess anything that differs from the norm is great.

I agree, I like to see people play with something new. Personally though, I don't really like to see tenticles until, basically, he's killing. I feel like, (and this may be personalizing slendy too much) most of the time he looks vaguely human for a reason. To suddenly grow tenticles is to go back to what he really is, or to show that he really is a monster.
I like tenticles in extreme circumstances.
Claws I haven't seen done well in video yet, but there is a lot of good art and cosplay of it. And hands I don't mind, but I prefer they be more indistinct. Too much hand looks too startlingly human.

I prefer hands. Tentacles and claws are just off the basis of what Slenderman should be IMO. His basic features are extremely tall, faceless in a suit (red tie is optional) with elongated arms.

He first appeared with tentacles, but not necessarily faceless.
Tentacles are okay. I don't really care one way or another. I like the interpretation that they're just distorted, disjointed hands growing out of his back, though
I like the idea of claws, so long as they're not overdone. Like, don't make him scrape his claws on the wall like Freddy Kruger. As always, there can be exceptions, but in general, that will just come off as silly, & trying too hard.
I won't go into a frothing rage if he just has hands, or some kind of hand-like appendage.

somewhere between hands and tentacles. Maybe hands(plus tendrils?) at some points, extending out into tentacles. Not the hentai mosnter type of tentacles though, more like branches

Decided to dig this old thread up. I like Slenderman better with hands, but it depends. If the hands are the same color as his face(less head), it gives a more human and uncanny appearance to him. However, if the hands are black but have narrow fingers (like in Marble Hornets) it also works.

I love the way TribeTwelve does their tentacles. As soon as you see those you know shit is going down.

Oh look, someone brought back a thread that I was gonna respond to two years ago but forgot.
My personal favorite is when the Slender Man has branch-like arms, because it allows for the awesome effect of him blending in with the trees. And that's another thing we need back in the mythos: the Slender Man being the terrifying version of Where's Waldo.

Ugh. Guys, don't necro threads. It's a breach of forum etiquette. If you find a thread from two years ago that you think deserves a new look, then make one. That way we have new content. The first page of this board has "New Posts" that go back to May.
Don't just recycle content. Make your own.
