I wanna say that's the Treasury Department, actually.

You are correct. For twenty bonus points, what is their main mission? Wink

OK. Learned something new. Can't wait to correct my husband. As usual, he is wrong. Very Happy

"MISSION STATEMENT
The United States Secret Service is mandated by statute and executive order to carry out two significant missions: protection and criminal investigations. The Secret Service protects the President and Vice President, their families, heads of state, and other designated individuals; investigates threats against these protectees; protects the White House, Vice President's Residence, Foreign Missions, and other buildings within Washington, D.C.; and plans and implements security designs for designated National Special Security Events. The Secret Service also investigates violations of laws relating to counterfeiting of obligations and securities of the United States; financial crimes that include, but are not limited to, access device fraud, financial institution fraud, identity theft, computer fraud; and computer-based attacks on our nation's financial, banking, and telecommunications infrastructure."

Do I get the 20 points? I can never contribute to anything on this forum, so maybe I can redeem myself... somewhat Very Happy

Hey, looking it up isn't fair! Wink They were originaly formed for financial crimes, and weren't expanded for 50 years or so to protect the president.

AnthraX101

EDIT: Oh yeah, was gunna talk about the CIA. They are prohibited from collecting information on US citizens most of the time. They are permited however when it is beleved that they are participating in espionage or international terrorist activities. It's not that unreasonable to expect that they would consider the hacking incident one of these.

In reply to my account of traveling in the region, and general greetings, Ms. Heller sent this friendly reply:

Quote:
Dear xxx

I think I envy you! I've never had the time to go traveling, even to something as close as Mt. St. Helens.
By all means you must come back and see the town again, and make sure you stop by the Round Up Cafe, I'll see to it they treat you right.

Each season seems to bring out the best in a different aspect of the town. For instance, right now the early crocuses are pushing their way through frosty ground. I have them planted around several trees in my yard, and never ceases to amaze me. I know it will only be a few more weeks until the trees start putting out leaves.

Thank you very much on the well wishes for the paper, it is a labor of love for me to be able to tell others about the great things happening in Amboy!

Here's from the source code on the Amboymonthly.com site.

<!-- This script and many more are available free online at -->
<!-- The JavaScript Source!! http://javascript.internet.com -->

The site-ations site is not functioning, except for the main page, and the bruce-hamilton site leads to a generic search engine. Hmm.

Javascript sites

The site-ations site seems to have been a web design consulting company, based on archive.org's wayback machine. The bruce site has a robots.txt so I can't check it's history based on archive.org. The robots.txt is available http://web.archive.org/web/20020617003741/www.bruce-hamilton.com/robots.txt

P.S. Anybody made any progress on the possible code in the image map on ideltech's site?

Letters to the Editor

I really dig your website, Amboy Monthly.
There is a possibility I may be swinging by Amboy in a couple of months and I was wondering if you could point me to some local jazz music.

Thanks a bunch,
Sonja

Sonja,

Unfortunately there are no swing jazz clubs in or around Amboy. We are a little more inclined toward Country and good old fashioned Rock 'n' Roll out here in the sticks. There are some Jazz clubs in Portland though. I've been to a few. However, there is the Mt. Hood Festival of Jazz on the Mt. Hood Community College campus every August. If you get a chance that is definitely not to miss. There are also Jazz concerts outdoors at the Portland Zoo.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have just been your website for the city of Amboy, Washington. Great
site! I completed the word search in the fun and games, it's lots of fun! I
just wanted to commend you on some great design, and I hope to see lots more of information on the site! Also, I'm following this story about Marty, Marcus, and Jude quite closely...Will this story be reported daily?
Again, good job!

Andrew

Andrew,
The answer to this question at this point is when something newsworthy to Amboy comes up you bet your John Deere it will be up there. But this is a quiet town, so the news comes slow. For more info go to www.ideltech.com/news.

Dear Ms. Heller,

Great job on the online edition of the Amboy Monthly, and a great piece on Ideltech! When can we expect the fun and games section to be up and running?

Sincerely,
Kat Pillar
An Avid Reader!!!!!

Thank you Ms. Pillar we here at Amboy Monthly appreciate your encouragement. The Fun and Games section kicked off a few days ago with a word search puzzle. But, expect there to be more fun on the way!

Car Crash Kills Two

by, Melody Heller, for Amboy Monthly

Amboy lost two of its most cherished citizen February 18, 2004. Stanley, 61,and Marsha, 49, were killed in a car accident as the couple hit a deer and thecar lost control going over the side of the road and into Fargher Pond off of Grantham Road.

They were found today when Richard Kunze, 52, was driving to an appointment and noticed the 1992 Oldsmobile on the embankment. By the time the rescue crew had arrived the two had been dead for an estimated nine hours.

The area in road has been a large concern for many local citizens. "Almost
every year we have someone get seriously hurt on that turn, but it is usually non-locals." Kunze remarked.

Battle Ground Police Cheif, Donny Markel, 32, stated, "When someone goes off the road in the middle of the night it can be very difficult for anyone to see them until the next morning."

The couple was survived by their only son Jude, 29, who is unavailable for
comment due to the grieving of his loved one. Jude is one of the Co-CEO's of Ideltech Information. The company is currently restructuring to fight the war on terror.

The couple will be buried at View cemetery with ceremonies and eulogy
being held Sunday at one o'clock.

I think maybe the day/month site-ations thingies are just to facilitate the changing of the date on the Amboy Monthly site.

Which code? I see the co-ords for the linked pages, but I'm not sure if that's to what you're referring or not?

co-ords for linked pages

Caterpillar,

It just strikes me that the co-ord's aren't in units of 5, or ten, something simple like that. Considering the lack of other details and in some cases proof-reading on the sites, it seems a little too much detail to go into. Why do the coordinates need to be so exact. I admit it's possible that the image map was made in some utility that allows you to graphically decide the boundaries, but still I think that a code is possible. Or maybe I'm looking too hard Wink .

Gryftir

P.S. both the link image and the banner image for columbia river rentals are .png. All the other images on the sites are gif's.

Is that significant? I wouldn't be able to tell the diff but am wondering if it means anything, like is it easier/harder to hide stuff?

Sliding in.

What's up guys, my name is anDy, I'm the Andrew who wrote in, got posted in the Letters to the Editor. Nice. I've been following ARGs for awhile, was in on the Beast but I suck at these so I'm pretty much a lurker. Just thought I'd pop in and start talking this one out, should be fun. Just getting a name out there. Smile

As for the game, I agree that the lines on the logo are a bit confusing, don't know what to do with them though... Confused

Oh well, just saying hi!

Ebay Merch

Another thing, I just checked, and these Ebay sales end in about 4 hours...I'm gonna try to place a bid, but, being 16, no promises...There's one bid out there...Think this stuff will be important to the game, or just a fundraiser? Either way, I'm gonna try to throw some money in.
