ARG Argreement

I need help setting up an agreement for my players to agree to which makes me not legally responsible for the stupid things they try to do. If anyone has an example copy it would be appreciated.

That's the 64 dollar question isn't it?

How do you get them to sign it if they aren't supposed to know it's a game? If you acknowledge it's a game and want them to sign it then you need to make sure it's all legal or it's not worth anything at all.

Do you go rogue and just not have them sign anything and keep the curtain pulled down tight? Or do you go with protection and then try to immerse the players more than you could if you didn't have the agreement, all the while hoping they forget about the short lapse in keeping the curtain closed?

Frankly, I didn't mind CTW's relatively open curtain all that much. Sure, we knew it was all a game. Don't we always? There've been a couple of games that really weren't (wasn't Ravenwatch one of them?), but over time, I think the players have progressed to the point where they can seperate the wheat from the chaff.

Really, it depends who your target audience is. If you're going for the hardcores, they'll probably be able to recognize the telltale signs of an ARG ("Just in case I forget my e-mail login password, I'll write it using every third letter of my blog posting!"). If you want to attract newbies (i.e. ARGs for profit), you're gonna have to have something close to the beginning that says, "Look. This isn't real. Pretend it is."
