First of all, thanks to everyone who were constructive and left a reply. I would like to point something out.

If you carefully read my Opening post, you would see that I am not talking about MH being above critics or that you can't criticize MH because it's free. No, everyone has right to argue with creators, search for flaws, tell them about it, make the content better in the future. However, there is a clear difference between constructive criticism, unconstructive one (time gaps, for example) and demanding attitude. It's ok to tell the creators that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"I think that chase scene was too long"
,
but not "I've waited for this for 2 months and now you present me this sh*tty scene, you should be better than that to keep me, lol"

I'm with Oransel here, there is a ridiculous amount of complaining.
Try and use "constructive criticism" all you like, but complaining about the gap after every entry will not help them improve.

That being said, this should have been posted in the rage thread in my opinion- but this does focus more on a single point.
Not to mention I'm not one to complain about "another new thread"

It's okay to disagree. It's pretty much expected. But it's the constant back-and-forth, questionably inflammatory posting that I take issue with. If you've presented your side of an argument, but the other side does not seem willing to recognize it or take it to mind, then both sides should really move on.

We're supposed to be discussing the events of series and theories thereof, not having debates on what is or is not acceptable to us, as viewers.

Particularly not in a thread titled "In Defense of Marble Hornets."

Technically I was defending Marble Hornets. Razz Sooo, we were kinda, sorta on topic. Even if it did get a bit out of hand. :V

Just to chime in here.

I don't consider Entry #66 filler.
In my opinion, while in terms of facts introduced, there was not a whole lot of development, I don't think the same is true of the characters.

We saw Tim and Jay finally be completely open with each other, and now they're pretty much entirely in this together.
We saw more of how they play off each other, and what their dynamic is as a team, with Jay being more level-headed and careful, and Tim being more aggressive but showing more initiative.
We explored Tim's worry that everything is his fault, and his blaming himself at the current situation.
We saw that Hoody's motivation was clearly not to physically damage Jay and Tim, despite his likely complete ability to do that in this scenario. Instead, he leaves another cryptic clue for them, making it clear that he was aware they were following him the entire time.

It didn't introduce a whole lot of new concepts, no. But 66+ entries into this thing, I'm not expecting a whole lot to be introduced, and I'm sure that at this point, whatever's on that tape will actually make a difference and give Jay and Tim a lot more direction to work with. But no, while not introducing a whole lot, what it did do is solidify a lot. It was consistent. It explored the characters, and gave us a display of their evolving relationship. Compare their actions in this entry to their actions in #64. There's a lot of development there in a very short amount of time, and it's executed very well.

Obviously, this is all my opinion. There are many other things I could say positively about this entry, but these are just my thoughts on why it's a lot better than people seem to think. Because Marble Hornets is more than a puzzle to be solved. It's a narrative with characters.

A lot of the criticism I'm seeing lately is not about the actual gap in between Entries. I think we all know that shit happens that can delay entries. That's alright. Life gets in the way sometimes.

I think the problem most people have (I know I do) is when we get a situation like we have right now. Jay finds a tape, and you expect a quick turnaround... and then you get nothing for a month.

There are at least two ways this could have been fixed:
1.) A tweet. The simplest solution. "Tim has to go visit some family members. We're going to watch the tape together when he gets back." Boom. Done.
2.) Film the entries together, and don't release them until you can do so back-to-back. I think we'd have all waited an extra two weeks for this.

Yes, the out-of-game timeline can be frustrating and make us all angry with its delays. That shouldn't mean the In-Game timeline has to suffer through these awkward, often unexplained or poorly explained gaps.
(inb4: "My head hurts." "Just woke up in the woods." "I misplaced the tape, or someone took it." or "Tim has to work for a month straight with not even a 5 minute break to watch this potentially life-or-death tape.")

I guess I never seem to mind the gaps because I've got fuck tons of other videos that I watch too. And also games I play. That, and at least it isn't as long as the wait I have to go through for just another new episode of Grimm. Come the fuck on NBC. Why we gotta wait til fucking March for a new episode? That's booshit, yo.

I suppose, Troy doesn't want tweets of this kind to flood the feed because of the DVDs. People who will buy them 2, 3, 10 years later, won't appreciate 2-3 filler tweets after each entry. Same with the future Internet audience.

Yeah, I'd thought of that before. I think it's a shame that the original fans have to suffer, if that is the case.

For instance, "Going to the hospital this weekend" might look good a year from now, but I feel like we're getting massively screwed over by "dishonest" tweets like that.

My defense is pretty simple, Marble Hornets remains massively popular, with relatively light complaining.

That's my mindset too. I have plenty of things to watch and do besides just stick with MH, so when a new entry hits, I'm like, "oh, cool!" but I'm not waiting around uF for the video to hit.

Then again, I doubt many people are waiting around uF at all, and if they are, all that shows is a focus on this particular show. Everyone has a favorite show, and if MH is theirs, I can definitely see why someone would complain from time to time about lack of content, or lack of explanation in-between episodes. I wouldn't necessarily agree with it, but I've been guilty of complaining about PSAs for Red vs. Blue when there should have been an episode that day, so I just sit back and let it be here. Just as an example.

That being said, I have at least four online shows I follow, and plenty of TV shows to keep me busy between MH entries. And then there's good ol' Netflix. Very Happy

Looks like this thread will always be relevant, regardless of entry number.
