I know the Internet didn't become 'mainstream' until a couple of years before the new millennium but I know it was accessible at least in the early 90's and became more common by '95, which was the year ebay was formed. I would not strike out the possibility that someone could have gotten access to PM Green back then even if we were to strike out all of the other ways a person could have gotten it besides the internet.

Yeah I know. The idea of the internet has been around since the 60's, if I remember correctly

ebay works wonders my friend.

It does, but you probably didn't know about it in 1997. I know we didn't even have internet then.

Anyway, I hope I don't come across as harsh

Implying I couldn't get on ebay right now or some other website and find Pokemon Green a Japanese Gameboy.

I was meaning that someone could EASILY gotten online and bought him/herself a copy and the proper gameboy to play it and it be their favorite of the Pokemon franchise. Just because it was released in the late 90s doesn't mean they had to have gotten it then.

My beef with every Pokemon game after the originals was that it seemed like a cookie cutter money making device and that the new pokemon just seemed more and more absurd and lame. Also the whole idea with the originals was 'gotta catch em all!' then there's just 150 brand new ones on some other island somewhere, making it feel real contrived an idea that you would ever actually catch them 'all'. I dunno, it was like a ripoff of itself and a parody of itself at the same time.

The new Pokemon themselves can be a bit ridiculous, it's like they hit a keyboard for some of them and added vowels in the right place. Sure they might be better in Japanese and the English translations seem a bit daft I dunno. But to me some of the names and what they look like just don't seem creative or something, I don't know the correct way to say it

Yeah exactly. They're just kind of like, weak. Thrown together. In the first one, the whole pokedex was so immersive, each of the pokemon seemed unique and interesting and real in a way. The future generations are just like Flubbywubby the flying whale or something, and its like what? And the baby versions of some pokemon that already existed, like Pichu... Like wtf why would that not exist where Pikachu was before? And the types they added after the original were a real stretch too. I dunno, just a watered down version of the original with a bunch of weird pokemon no one gives a shit about... At least compared to the original, where most fans could nearly name them all and their types. I always felt like they were pulling a fast one on us, like oh they're just dumb kids so they won't notice we just tricked them into buying the exact same game with different pictures.

I am glad this thread is alive again Very Happy That means that there is someone happy in somewhere.

And talking about Pokemon, yeah, I liked the first and the second generation and the others where more and more wtf. The third wasn't that bad, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the others. X and Y are, imo, whay better that White and Black. Come one, there was a ice cream pokemon!! All of them looked more artificial and, less creative. The cool thing about pokemon for me when I was a kid was that they were like animals but with "superpowers" and that was cool.
Now that I think about pokemon games I realize they're cruel: you capture a wild animal against its will and then you force it fight against other animals until they faint... OMG, I still enjoy playing pokemon but O_o

One-dimensional or not, the fight scene between him and Wan is probably my favorite fight scene in the entire Avatar universe thus far. And honestly, the big bad of the original series didn't have all that many dimensions to him, and the final battle between him and Aang was still pretty god-damned amazing.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The fight scene was awesome, my concern is that Vaatu's probably the one behind Unalaq (who was already fairly generic to begin with- thank God for Varrick to keep this season interesting), and after characters like Amon and Zuko and Azula I expect a little more from the creators than a simple God of Evil sort of character as the villain.

I mean, Ozai was a little flat, yes, but he was somehow more... interesting? I mean, I'm sure they'll do something interesting, I just hope it doesn't end up being too black and white. He doesn't have to be sympathetic, just a little more interesting.

On a side note, Wan is one of the most badass characters in anything ever.

Of course he is, he
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
became the first avatar!! And not by chance, but because of himself, trying hard to do the good and doing what others thought it was imposible. Such a great character, really. Also, I think the animation was a little different here because it reinforced the sensation of all of that happening a long time ago.
I think those episodes are saving the season. I was even starting to "hate" Korra. It was supposed that in the first season she was learning about patience and to contact her reflexive inner self, but she is acting completely reckless, stubborn and idiot e__e.

In conclusion, great episodes Very Happy

Pokemon now look like Digimon. That's all I'm saying on their designs

He seems like a normal guy to me. "Hey Alex? Alex? We could go to the mall. We could get some sandwiches... Alex?"

Maybe Alex is gluten free and can't eat sandwiches?
