I'm guessing he meant that Slender Man was a dying genre, not ARGs.

The Slenderman mythos did a lot and did set a new foundation in storytelling. Especially new frontiers such as WhisperedFaith. I am optimistic on where the mythos is heading. What new horrors await? We just have to keep looking, but I don't think Slenderman will ever die. His legacy has been pretty much set in stone.

No matter what, something was started, and it's not ending any time soon. My advice to a new vlogger is: Be original. There's nothing wrong with using tropes introduced by Marble Hornets and others, of course. I just want to see something that hasn't been done 65 million times. How about you make Slender Man talk? Maybe give him a face, or have him wear something other than black? Use existing backstories such as Native American folklore or asian Mythology.

These are just a few things you can do. The Slender Man Mythos is far from dead. It just needs a blood transfusion.

I say go for it. Take the community's advice and give it a shot.
