EDIT: new post from the blog

Quote:
Sleep & Dreams February 15, 2013
That night she put the note on her bulletin board and climbed into bed with the deck of cards. He had been gone so long. Why did he give her a present and what did it mean?

She looked carefully at each card, hoping that one of them would speak to her. All she could do was laugh at the man with the little dog who was about to walk over the cliff. Was he brave? Or just stupid?

She tucked the deck of cards under her pillow and looked again at the note. Who was FD? What did the ax mean? There was no ax depicted in any of the cards.

That night, she dreamed that he was back home. He sat in his office working, but the table before him, the one that usually held his computer and papers, was empty. He turned to her and smiled.

"What can I bring to you, Papa?"

"You know, you know the things I need."

I'm gonna go ahead and spec right now that we are a living deck that will be used as means to an end while this little girl is trying to do something for her father.

Since, from what rudimentary knowledge I have of how a reading is conferred, several cards and their order mean different things for the caster it would probably mean that our order of tasking might be very important.

Also, it appears that so far we are following the Thoth Deck:

Quote:
The illustrations of the Thoth deck are rich in symbolism, based upon Crowley's stated desire to incorporate symbols from many disparate disciplines, including science and philosophy, as well as to draw on his extensive knowledge of various occult system (as described in detail in his Book of Thoth). For example, The Hanged Man and The Moon draw from Egyptian mythology, and the Princess of Disks holds a disk bearing the Taijitu. The pip cards in the four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, and Disks) depict their objects in carefully crafted positions; for example, the Four of Swords (which Crowley named "truce") shows four swords with their points toward the center of an imaginary square, suggesting a possibly tense peace. The card illustrations are uniformly stark and vividly illustrated throughout.

This passage seems to refer to the Fool in the Rider-Waite deck (possibly others, but R-W is the one I know about). No idea if that's meaningful! Wink http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:RWS_Tarot_00_Fool.jpg

ETA: What njberry said. Smile

Peculiar, seeing how there's no Sacrifice in the major arcana.
The Hanged Man is usually significative of sacrifice, so I should say that's your card.

Edit: Started a Google doc aswell, btw, to keep track of who is who: The Card Keepers Google Doc. Perhaps a wiki eventually, but at the moment this ought to do. It's open for editing if there's anything you want to add.
