Challenge(s) February 23, 2013
Dearest Card Keepers,

The pictures represent two different challenges: the puzzle listed below, plus a bit of an obscure challenge that may not be as SELF evident. It's up to you to figure out which is which.

Best of Luck,

Hi teh_lisa. The correct Jefferson quote has "existing" & ours has exists so reckon that's a definite. Super choices, MensVenatus! Admit am going round in circles Laughing

ETA: Saw the chalice is engraved with "moon" symbols. Used that as the four-letter word in an emailed 8 word guess. Maybe it will get us more feedback? Hope so...

Ah ha! I was just going by what was posted here, I didn't google it.

To whomever asked about the zebra infant thing, it is most definitely a mirror would be my guess. That was the first thing I thought.

Sorry for the DP but the newest tweet says, "The first step is to filter out the elements."

So we need to figure out which ones are air, fire, water and earth.

I was just reading so:
Swords = air
Wands = fire
Cups = water
Pentacles = earth

I have emailed asking about filtering out the photo of the baby with the wand, the photo of the sword, the photo of the moon cup/chalice and the photo of the pentacle plate.

Also, "the fateful will be rewarded" is odd. I feel like it should be the FAITHFUL will be rewarded.

There is no truth exists which I fear, or would wish unknown to the whole world

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
be 2 letter word

The fateful will be rewarded

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
faith 5 letter but more likely faithful 8 letters

So this is what I have randomly put together, but there is only 1 set of blanks left and 2 photos (the book and the open box) that I haven't used still.

be (shakespeare quote)
faithful (instead of fateful)
to (number 2)
that (the letter from the envelope photo)
which (the witch)
mirror (zebra mirror)
- - - - - -
existing (from the Jefferson quote)

I don't think it is right even if I knew the missing word. Faithful is what we think the words should be, while that is the improper word that was used so maybe than should be used instead of that? Just some random thoughts.

And a response from Winter about the four elements:

Quote:
Excellent work, LA. Those four are part of the second challenge.

So those photos are part of something else.

Ok, there's two puzzles.cyou can take out a wand, cup, pentacle and sword. You're left with an open box, a zebra mirror(?), a blue two, the quote, a witch, the cover of the eight, the 'fateful' with the infinity sign.

Perhaps they're homophones? Two = to, witch = which, and so on.

Edit: ok so I missed a page, oops! Sorry. I won't delete any of that just in case it sparks something later, but it's probably not relevant...

Where is that Shakespeare quote, teh_lisa? I seem to have missed that altogether. I see that you have mentioned it twice now but I can't find where it come from or what the quote is.

Pia, it was a Twitter post. No photo or anything, just a single post on Twitter. Maybe it doesn't belong with this puzzle? I really think we need the 'be' though Smile

The Shakespeare quote is on the twitter feed.

Ok, so here's another set of ideas, using the words that are missing or should be there instead.

Be (Shakespeare)
Faithful (note)
To (letter)
Than (letter)
_ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _
Existing (quote)

And then there's a mirror, an open box, a witch, a blue two and an eight book cover? I've been thinking about alternative words such as opened for the box, or inside, and number for the blue two, but haven't landed on anything yet.

I was trying to fit than in instead of that also, but grammatically it doesn't make sense.

So I emailed Winter about the blanks. I have been told that my first 5 are correct. So:

Be
Faithful
To
That
Which

Those are correct.

ETA: I like Am's idea about Exists Inside You should email them. I don't want to take credit for your solve.

Not MY solve b/c am doing the happy TY dance for teh_lisa. You made me remember the Shakespeare mis-quote & got a reply on the 8 I had emailed above.
