The official statement is it's in the same universe, that is for a reason, and there are nods to the webseries. It's not a direct continuation of the plot, Troy, Joseph, and Tim are not in it. When asked if totheark was at all involved, they said they couldn't say.

People are definitely gonna compare the movie and webseries anyway, regardless of the title. And so what if they think the movie is better, maybe it will be better (Gasp blasphemy).

People aren't going to think the webseries is based on the movie. People are dopey enough to think that MH could be based on Slender cause they're both online, but everyone who sees the movie will already know it's based on a webseries, especially the ones who bother to search up the webseries after seeing it. The only reason one might not know is if they just don't know about the webseries period, and they'll probably just think it's based off Slender. And once again, so what?

Trosephim have seen the script, they spoke very highly of it. The director said he put a lot of effort into not ruining the original concept and staying true to what Trosephim did with the series, and I believe him. I know some people are cynical about the movie because Hollywood ruins everything, but I'm honestly not. I am gonna see it in theaters (preferably at the midnight showing) because that sounds awesome.

I suppose you are right, and I do think this could be great if done correctly. It will be interesting to see. Horror movies now aren't that good, but I think (or hope) that this will be different. I think there is a good chance of totheark being in it, because he is mysterious.

Dhawk basically said it all. Now me personally, I think "The Operator" isn't too great a title (although using that title would certainly help clue people in to TO's proper name, especially if they don't name him in the movie), but they most certainly should not title it "Marble Hornets" since by all indications the titular student film will have zero connection to this movie except the TO connection.

TTA could appear. In fact, this could even explain why he left Jay and Alex alone 2006-2009 and only then decided to reemerge when the YT stuff started- maybe he was busy.

I'm still going to go in skeptical, because that's the safest route with Hollywood anything, but I have a strangely good feeling about this movie right now. Trosephim's enthusiasm helps with that- yes, they might not be allowed to badmouth it, but their excitedness seems genuine.

Well thats news to me. I always was under the impression the movie had nothing to do with the series other than Trosephim and The Operator. But then again I don't fully follow their blogs and twitters, and trying to stay away from any 'con' videos honestly (breaks some of the immersion for me really).

If its not directly related, then it could be about Jessica, Amy, and Sarah. The three are all friends during 2006. Sarah goes missing and gets killed by Alex (off screen) about a third into the movie. Amy parts ways with Jessica before the serious stuff starts happening (Living with Alex). And the rest of the story revolves around Jessica's actions before she wakes up at the hotel with no memories. The above idea probably has been said a million times, but hey, putting it out there anyway.

Marble Hornets would have been a bad title. If this involves different people who are unrelated to the student film (and I think it has been confirmed that this is the case), then the title would not make any sense to the audience except for those familiar with the web series. Hopefully, this movie will get a wider audience than just us. I know I should be cynical, but much like DHawk, I feel hopeful for some reason.

Also, am I wrong for taking their refusal to answer the question about totheark to mean that he will be involved in some manner? Maybe he's the one who put the found footage together? It'd be easy for him to appear too, since even fans of the webseries don't know that it's

Well, if it's in the same universe as the webseries, then the YouTube channels exist if its chronologically after the current events IG. The people in the movie might end up finding the channels online while researching why there's a tall, faceless dude in a suit making them forget stuff. In fact, one of the characters may even have followed the webseries and they could do a "I didn't think it was real!" thing - could get some sweet references or inside jokes that way.

Hey, question for someone who saw the clip at the con: How'd Doug Jones look as TO? Did TO look better than in the show or about the same?
