Also, Twisted, you should calm down man haha. You sound so fuckin pissed/upright. I thought you would've learned your lesson after flipping your lid hardcore about that typing video the Quadrant TTA led to. Wink
I don't think TP has much middle ground, he's either all in "fuck those who disagree" on a subject or passive. Maybe he just doesn't see a point in posting things he's not invested in.

Yeah, I usually don't post unless I'm fairly invested in the topic. I go other places for mindless random chat. :V

Also, I was more calm than usual in this latest argument.

As of now we only know that there might have been a screening, but that doesn't mean shit. Just because there was a screening doesn't mean that he seen it or was even being honest with what he said.Like I could claim that I was at that screening too and I could say that the version of the Slender man (Operator) used in the film is more closely reminiscence of the version from Stifferman. That wouldn't mean that I seen it necessarily, and even if I did see it I could lie just about as much as any one else.

"tl;dr":just because a screening exists doesn't mean any of his claims were true and he might not have even been to this screening Raspberry

Anything is possible
It's possible there isn't really a movie and we've all been trolled.
Maybe Marble Hornets never existed and I hallucinated all of you.
Or maybe Hollywood ruined another movie by ignoring the source material.

The new Jake Gyllenhaal movie has a suspiciously slender-ish poster...

^Is that thing serious, or is it a mock-up? o.o

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it by google. Though, I doubt it's about slenderman after reading the synopsis Razz

Saw the trailer--no Slendy.

What's he doing on the cover though?

I think it's pure coincidence, but dang, this really should be the official poster for a slenderman movie.

yes, yes, well I don't think it's really (or at least it shouldn't be) a question anymore as to whether I saw the movie,

the real question is whether or not you guys will agree with me and be disappointed or if you will love it

So this movie is supposed to come out some time this spring or summer, right? When are we going to get a trailer?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I thought we had moved past that discussion. Why would you bring that back up? I personally am convinced that you at least saw it, and willing to believe that you probably did not deliberately lie about or misrepresent the film in your summary, but some people won't be convinced and bringing this back will just lead to another stupid argument.

...Unless, of course, the podcast, which I have not listened to, somehow corroborates what you said, which would be a perfectly valid reason to bring that back up. In which case ignore what I just said, minus the part about my believing you, which still stands.

That said, while I don't think we should be arguing about whether you saw it any further, I don't think I ever directly addressed the actual points you discussed in your review, so might as well. Perhaps people can follow suit without triggering another stupid argument.

So, first of all, I'm not particularly bothered by your claim that it was disappointing, mainly because a good deal of your post was still just your personal opinion on the quality, which is to say, obviously we may not take issue with the same things. Without more details on the parts you took issue with, if we just looked at the "facts" you gave, they don't really tell enough for me to really know what to expect of the quality or execution. The fact that you found it to not be creepy enough or to have poor pacing means relatively little to me without more details because I may find the film differently (I'd only be concerned if multiple other reviews, once they arrive, share those concerns.)

Also, the series moved from being a "horror" series focused on creepiness long ago- it's largely a mystery series now, and if the film at least gets that part down, I don't mind quite as much if it's not really overly creepy (though in that case the marketing team had better have the sense not to try to sell this as a horror flick.)

The only thing you said that actually in any way worries (for lack of a better word) me is your claim that TO doesn't move and looks silly. The "looks silly" part is, again, subjective and I may find I disagree, but your specific description doesn't bode well. The not moving part isn't a dealbreaker because, well, he hasn't been particularly mobile in MH itself since S1- they use largely the same tricks for his motion in the source material. But it would be disappointing, yes, since I would hope a movie budget and a human actor in the suit would allow him to move more, and the entries where he moved were some of the creepiest in the series.

On a side note, having seen the movie (and having proved willing to give some plot details), could you answer a question or two?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Is the dog the villain?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
More seriously, try and think back to it and consider it as simply a film about the main protagonists rather than a horror film about the Operator. Do you feel that the main characters' arcs were at least resolved reasonably satisfyingly?

And if you went in with neither any prior knowledge of MH nor any preconceived notion that you were going to watch a "scary" movie, what would your general opinion have been?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
And a slightly more spoilery one you may be less willing to discuss- was there, as in MH, a more human antagonist in addition to the Operator?

I would hope that if Mosaic goes to the trouble of casting a well known actor, known particularly for his contortionist skills, to be the Operator, they wouldn't have him stand there like a dummy the whole time. It might be my own bias talking here; if I can see this movie near my hometown, I will, and I want this movie to do well. I want people to see this movie and be interested in the source material. I'm just... worried, I guess, about what fanofslender said.
