Don't worry, it's just a guy who likes to say he worked on Paranormal Activity. In reality, he didn't get involved until after the movie was already made... actually that's worse. Sorry, that wasn't nearly as comforting as I'd hoped.

I think the only "movie based on something I like" that I've actually liked was the first pokemon movie. Ever since then though, everything has been a flop. There's a new comic book character I love revamped every 6 months, and they always screw it up royally. I stopped expecting anything good ages ago, and starting dreading movie adaptations a few years ago.

Not to mention if it gets big, can you just imagine the posts on these forums? ARK = Alex R Kralie, WHAT IF JAY IS MASKY?!, and "I think tothepark is relevant" threads will be created hourly. Plus people will mix up the movie canon and webseries canon.

God I've become such a pessimist...

ToThePark IS relevant!! Haven't you seen the Hoodie in Upstate NY thread? That build! It is definitely the build of TTP. So Hoodie is really TTP

Does not invalidate the general rule.

Honestly, the fact that Troy's known about this for some time doesn't really make me feel better. It really just makes me question why he never said, "Hey guys, we're thinking of maybe adapting this into a movie."

TTP is also the one that opened the door while Alex was talking to himself. The one who left the bullet casing behind. The one that covered up Hoody's tape with dirt, and I even hear his real name is Bruce.

Troy posted a blog about the news. I feel a lot better about this.

Now suddenly this

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard the news by now, but in case you haven't, a movie based on Marble Hornets is currently in the early stages of development! Which is totally nuts.

Here is the article from Variety with the announcement.

It's something that's been in the works for the last couple of years now, so it's refreshing to finally be able to talk about it in the open. I can't really get into too many details about it just yet, but here's what I'm at liberty to share:

-Assuming everything stays on schedule, it will be shot this spring. Rough release dates have been tossed around, but nothing is anywhere near to being set in stone yet.

-It's being produced by Mosaic, who are mainly known for producing comedies, but is taking its first foray into a new genre with this. We've spoken on the phone with them plenty of times and they're all super dedicated to making the movie the best it can possibly be.

-The director will be James Moran, who has done tons of stuff. He was the second unit director for the three most recent Paranormal Activity movies, which shows that he's plenty experienced in a film making style similar to Marble Hornets.

-The script has already been written by Ian Shorr, and both Joseph and I have read it. It's great!

-We will be involved with the movie in a certain capacity, but I can't get more specific than that.

-This absolutely does not mean people can't make a series based on The Slenderman anymore, nor does it mean we're going to send out lawyers or something to the ones that are already out there. That's the last thing I'd ever want to have happen.

-And finally, Marble Hornets will not be ending early because of this, I promise. Nothing at all has changed on that front.

That's all I'm able to say right now. We're all super excited that the stars have aligned to make this happen. We knew, and were told plenty of times, to keep our expectations low with getting this movie made. There were no empty promises. After the past few years, I now fully understand why it usually takes things so long to get greenlit in Hollywood. Luckily, the hardest part is done now. That's not to say there won't still be challenges, but at least the ones left are significantly less daunting.

I'm stoked, and I hope you are too! Stay tuned.

Only the last 3 points make me feel any better at all, & I'm not optimistic for the movie's success.

I'm really excited and happy for them.

I wonder what direction they're going to go in with this. I'd love to see a movie that focuses on a character like Tim or Alex instead of Jay.

I was just thinking the other night that it would be nice to know the story from the point of view of, say, Alex. Provided it's done well.

But what makes this unlikely is how soon they're going to start shooting.

Maybe because he couldn't? These things have a LOAD of secrecy involved. Even if he didn't make the deal, it's not really any of our decision whether a movie is made. It's their property, and they decide what happens with it.

Of course they could. Watch, "So we're thinking of maybe adapting Marble Hornets into a movie. We haven't seen anyone about it yet, but we just wanted to put it out there that it is an idea of ours." It's not hard at all.

And there is a difference between the legal obligation to decide what to do with your series, & the good form to keep your fans in the loop.

This is Trosephim, so I'm sure they weren't trying to be malicious, or anything. But it is slightly disappointing, nonetheless.

According to Troy, they've been in talks for a few years. So if they had done that back then before they started talks, I have a feeling some people might be like "who cares?" because it wouldn't have been AS BIG as it is now.

I love all the people watching WEB SERIES ripping on the Paranormal Activity movies... Are the PA movies cinema perfection? 'Course not but they're fine horror movies. Certainly better written/directed/acted/etc. than everymanHybrid or Tribe Twelve or any other Slender series
