[VIDEO] Regards
from Youtube user totheark

So let's kick off this thread where we can discuss the youtube video Regards, which was posted as a reply to MarbleHornet's Entry #9.

It is ten seconds of distorted noise, with varied-sized-blocks of //////////// flashing erratically before CLOSELY appears, written strangely. The flashing blocks are not morse code, and the audio has yet to be solved, if it is indeed a solve.

For reference, the blocks are: 144 (12x12), 225 (15x15) then 121 (11x11).

i just thought of this, if you look at the way that the word closely is shaped in the video, it kinda matches the shape of the slash marks at the begining of the video.

okay i rewatched the vid and its not in the exact shape but its
pretty close.

oh and one more thing, when that comment was left on the video
of the number of slashes in each column, the result kinda looks like coordinates.

I stand by my suggestion that there's an algorithm that's being used to distort the audio of 'Regards' and Alex's tapes.

but umm, i couldn't help but make a account and help yall out.
but one of the replies to video was this, i didn't come up with this so no credit to me.

it's the XY dimensions of the boxes

144 (12x12), 225 (15x15) then 121 (11x11).

Trout look at original post above.

something to see

If you combine the words from both Regards and operator, you can make the phrase
"listen closely"

that doesn't really help, though it might be interesting if we get more words in future videos Very Happy

Grrrrrrrrrr these arbitrary rectangles of ///////// is bothering the bjeezus out of me. Some arbitrary number crunching produces either 11182511 or 8111251, gathered by the following method: CLOSELY is one then two then two then two. If I put 8 (from description) on top, with 12, then 15, then 11 below that in the same manner as the organization of CLOSELY.

I have no idea where these numbers need to go or if we're ever going to need them. I'm just convinced that there's more to find in these videos.

OK, for this I have to tell a short story.

Back when I was playing D&D, my DM made a trap, we activated it and heard a loud "Click" That was it, no darts, no arrows, no monsters from the next room. All the trap did was make a noise.

Maybe that's what's going on with the slashes, nothing, a dead end. At least, for now, it could change once we get some more info.

Hehehehe

Yeah I've certainly considered that possibility. And it's quite likely true. However I don't want to take that path until I'm certain all the other paths have been exhausted. At the very least, it gives me something to do while I wait for the next Marble Hornets video Razz

I heard something about one coming out every few days, so I give it about 1-3 days first.

... Now I realize I shouldn't have watched those videos at 1:30 AM..

Ok, I'm looking at this for the first time now and reading what you already figured out about the box sizes being square numbers...I don't know, but could that simply translate to "look closely"?

You have the squares of 12, 15 and 11.
12 flashes twice. 15 flashes twice, but faster. 11 flashes three times, though, which might be a problem. As far as I can tell by just looking at it a couple times.
Convert numbers to letters, you get "LOK". But flashing faster could signify using the same letter twice and you end up with "LOOK".

But yeah, why does the 11x11 flash three times or do my eyes play a trick on me?

Seeing as MH seems to be about finding patterns in audio and video, maybe this is a clue to the video part. Looking for stuff flashing?

Oh snap! I bet you're dead on, Brax! The doubling of the O does seem strange, since the first two flash three times and the 11 flashes four times, but LOOK CLOSELY is the best thing we've got so far.

Plus, the first video saying LOOK and the second saying LISTEN would make perfect sense Wink

EDIT: But then does the description (eight slashes) mean anything? I just rewatched the video and agree that the LOK works (while LOOK is not clearly achieved). Perhaps the description is a clue to tell us to double the O? Or maybe totheark thinks we're clever enough to figure it out on our own.

Can we combine the OPERATOR and REGARDS threads into one "totheark" thread?
