There is something about TTA that allways bugged me, it's more about the videos that worries me. I never understood that ''S'' that flies around on Advocate and other videos, also the constant use of water (In Reminder i remember hearing someone walking on a swamp, also Deluge, Broadcast, Display, Program and others!) Also the use of slashes!

There was a fanart that suggested that perhaps the Operator drags his victims down a body of water of some sort. It was theirized from entry 64 i think? That's my best guess.

It's supposed to be a lake I think.

Hey someone asked it in a previous page, so I figured I'd get it outta the way.

Jeez...

Just playing with you, dude. Pretty common practice on UF to haze the new guys/gals when they show up and throw around the Alex = ARK theory. d:

Questions for which I most want answers:

- What is the Operator? That is, I want to know just enough about his nature to answer these questions:
- Why did he choose to become involved with these particular people?
- When did he choose to become involved with these people in the first instance?
- What has he done to those whose disappearances can be attributed to him?
- What is he doing to or what does he want from those who have not disappeared?
- Why does he appear to leave his victims alone for extended periods of time, and why does he reenter their lives, as in "Entry #26?"
- Is it possible to "win" against him in any significant or permanent way?

- Who is TTA? That is, I want to know just enough about TTA to answer these questions:
- Why does he seem to know more than anyone else in the series?
- Is TTA best thought of as a single person who exerts control or influence over other "minions" or "contributors," or is this a true group with "members" who all have an essentially equal voice?
- How is it that he seems to exhibit supernatural abilities: is he able to tap into the Operator's influence somehow, or is he supernatural in his own right, or are we being deceived?
- Why has he chosen to communicate so cryptically: necessity, capability, mistrust, or what?

I think I've got enough here that if we learned the real answers to these questions, everything else I'm interested in would sort of fall into place. The real difficulty, the longer we go without these sorts of answers, is evaluating the actions and plans of Jay and Tim. For example, this most recent set of events has our heroes off in hiding, but we really don't know if that's a good idea or not because we don't know much about what the Operator wants from them, or whether or not it's possible to get away from him if he decides to look for you, etc. In 68, I think TTA implies both that it's a good thing that they've gone and that it's futile for them to run. The longer we go around and around with the "search for leads" - "find something scary" - "decide to lay low" - "get drawn back in" cycle without real answers, the more difficult it is to figure out what the characters should be doing. At least that's my take. Hard to win a game when nobody knows the rules.

The Answer to that question, surprisingly, is both. As it turns out, Elder Gods can't seem to figure out video cameras. 8th dimensional geometry comes naturally to them, but they can't seem to figure out how to use some of our basic technology.

What I want to know is if Jay had any Operator experience before the series started. He did find tapes of himself he didn't remember being a part of...

That actually just raises further questions.

For starters, the obvious, why does The Operator do this? Is something we saw once out of very many horrors on Tim's journey really that significant? Either way, how does Hoody know about this?

Maybe the Operator is a CIA agent and he's just waterboarding his victims who could be potential terrorst threats!

Neither. It doesn't do shit. That's why it appears everywhere, with no correlation to whether or not The Operator shows up.

I get the impression that people who know of the thing's existence use it to mark locations where it's been seen, either to warn other people or to compensate for the memory loss that sometimes accompanies those encounters.

The general feeling I get is that an eventual symptom of "slendersickness" is the compulsion to use the symbol. Why? I don't know. It's just that we only know of 2-3 people who've used the symbol: Alex, & Hoody &/or Masked Tim.

It does not seem likely that Hoody/Tim & Alex communicate with each other, so it's questionable that it's used for that purpose. It also doesn't seem to have any kind of mystical function.

The only clues we really have are (A) Alex drew some in his frantic drawings while presumably being stalked & (B) ToTheArk seems to insist on using the symbol in his videos in place of o's, cancel symbols, & the like.

Although the first few times we saw the symbol, it was already drawn into the ground, with no solid indication given as to who did so.

Indeed. If The Operator has been stalking some of these people since childhood, that could explain it. Otherwise, we go into the question of whether or not there have been other victims in the past.

The Operator itself does not seem like the type to make chalk drawings on the sidewalk.
