Hm.. here's an idea!

We know from Dark0 that Taylor knows about Lockwood, and presumably that Dark0 knows something about Lockwood as well but won't comment on it because Taylor would get mad.

But if Dark0 and Taylor know about Lockwood, what if the other kids do as well? Maybe if we got Nicole to ask Karen who Lockwood is, we might get to learn more. They're speaking again on the 30th...

I don't wanna ask Nicole to do this unless everyone thinks it's a good idea, though. Any thoughts?

I vote yes. Twice.

Granted, we'd need to get Nicole to agree to do this... but asking Karen some questions like this might be a good idea. Certainly she has some reason for contacting Nicole out of the blue, right?

Okay, so I got an email from Nicole a few hours ago (I was in class, so I could only write short responses/had to pay attention to other things). I'll post them here.

Quote:
Nicole wrote:
Have you made any progress with Mr Blackwell?

Amalie wrote:
Well, the last thing I heard was that the person writing from the email address now signs his name as "Jon". Does that mean anything to you?

Nicole wrote:
No... Uhm. Fishy.

Ask him if he remembers taking Karen and I to see "Zombies in the Snow", then tell me word-for-word what he replies back with.

Amalie wrote:
Ok. Do you think that I should do it or have someone who's had more contact with him do it?

Nicole wrote (as the same time as me so she may not have seen the email, but I took her silence as a "it doesn't matter"):
If it really is her dad he'll know what it means, and it'll give us a good way to communicate with him. (He read the books to us all the time as kids)

Amalie wrote:
I sent him a quick email. I didn't mention you by name, though, just in case it is someone else who doesn't have any knowledge of your identity. Trying to take as many precautions as possible. I'll let you know when I hear back!

I sent karenismissing an email asking just Nicole's question. I'm thinking that if this really is Karen's dad, he'll hopefully understand the significance of why we're asking and will answer despite it being an odd question.

I emailed karenismissing and asked very casually:

Quote:
Are you a relative of Karen

He replied with

Quote:
Yes. I am her father.

Thank you for your support- Jon

Hm. When did he reply to you? If he's responsive to you, maybe you could ask him if he remembers taking Karen and her friend (still don't know if it's wise to name Nicole, but I guess they already know who she is?) to see "Zombies in the Snow"?

Good work, Jim. We know that he's either her father or claiming to be her father now, definitely.

According to Nicole, Karen's Father was called Joseph, not Jon. Which is suspicious, right?

He replied to me just a few minutes ago. I'll try asking about zombies in the snow and let you know what happens.

I think he is her father. My gut tells me that Jon Blackwell is Karens father. It's "Joseph" that's wrong.

Great, thanks! Would you mind posting his response here word-for-word so I can forward it to Nicole?

TallulahBelle, according to Nicole, Nicole's father's name is Joseph.

In order to not sound outrageously intrusive I'm sending:

Quote:
Oh so you must be the one who took Karen and her friend to see "Zombies in the Snow" right?

I'll let you know what he replies with.

I know, it's wierd. And the email sender is "Joseph B". I was the first to guess it was her father. But Jon isn't an outsider, I'm sure of it. Karen will know who he is, and why it's Jon and not Joseph.

My response from this person who now shows up as "Jon B." Forwarded it to Nicole.

Quote:
Jon B.
7:53 PM (0 minutes ago)

to me
No, that name does not ring any bells. I wanted to speak with you about the fact that you keep emailing the same pattern of questions. I can't believe the amount is so high. I am simply in shock, in shock. You would think you could probably control yourselves? I mean I'm not that busy of a man, but the amount of emails- this is ridiculous! I hope you all can account for your actions.

Edit: Nicole's response. I'm a little confused.
Quote:
I'll figure it out, give me some time later- busy right now. Unless you want to figure it out, would be helpful. He mentioned a bell though, so it's pretty safe to say this is Mr. Blackwell. ;D cool, now we have a way to talk to him at least.

Edit: Jon B. just sent me this, in white writing on a white background:
Quote:
10-2

EDIT:
OH! OHHH! "Zombies in the Snow" is from Lemony Snicket! And the bell thing is a code from the book. God, I love those books.
Guess we can talk to J.B. through the Sebald Code. http://snicket.wikia.com/wiki/Sebald_Code
I can't get the code to work on his email, though. "I keep amount you not this actions"? Think the 10-2 is an extra clue?

Looks like you got the only reply. I didn't get one from him. I have a feeling the coded message will probably have the word pattern in it, it seemed odd for him to work that into his reply to you.

That's what I'm thinking too. But the Sebald code is supposed to be every 11th word after the bell ringing. Wondering if the 10-2 is a clue?

Edit: Got it! 10-2=8 = every 8th word. "the pattern is in control of this account"
